Im sorry if this is a newbie question but....

Can scout cook the meat they harvest and if not, why

To me it makes perfict sence, who cant cook some meat over a camp fire?

Im not saying it should be a great buff, only as good as the food you can forage for. it would not unbalance the game (scouts already make buffs). as well I think you should need to be in a camp to cook the meat using the fire, you could use the camp termanl to start the crafting (cook meat being only option to craft)

Just some ideas

I know a great deal of people in RL who are completely inept at cooking whether at home or over a campfire. In game however its very simple to cook, get skills in artisan, and go up the Domestic line, I am planning on being a chef, so I have scout for movement and the ability to harvest food.

Get at least novice artisan. You will find that you also get XP for all the traps and the camp-kits that you assemble too! At least in the lower tier, there are a lot of recipes you can learn that will let you make foods with harvested meat. Alas, I have not yet seen any barbecue recipes, but there is still a good variety available if you explore the artisan track. Foods, I feel are are an untapped resource on SWG. Don't see many posts about them, but you can get some good ability bonuses for eating up before a day out in the wilderness.
