1. What kinds of animals give hides, and which give exclusivly bone or meat or both?

2. How far away from a city must I be to set up camp? I could swear the build distance was 1km, but, I go 1000m+ away from Dearic on Talus and I still can't build.

The no-build zones on Talus are very large, I think its 1500m but it could be 1700m, its hard to tell with the map which it is. Take some missions that are around 2500m away and you should a lot more luck finding camping spots. Also, if youre seeing harvesters/wind gens/etc you're in a build zone so you can drop your camp anytime you like.

As for hides, all creatures that are quadrapeds give hides, meats, or bones. Flying creatures will usually be just bones and meat. Insects will be either just meat for real small ones (putrid mites) or hide/meat usually. As you get your scout skills up you can "examine" any creature and it will show you what you can harvest from it.

Would anyone else love to see a no-build ring you're able to bring up on the planetary map? I have survivl IV so finding spots isn't dificult, its when Im in that area thats right on the border that drives me nuts. It would definitely make life alot easier for us to camp.

Fortunately the upcoming patch will render no-build zones moot for camping (woot!).
