I've been looking for hours on this to figure out if this is a bug or not. So tell me that you all think, and if it has happened to you before.

I was fighting and when i got all four sections to 1000xp (ready to train now for the first time!!) I started to head back to town. When i got there i found someone who was willing to train me. I was able to train the two center tiers (sorry i dont remeber the names on those) and it worked fine. Then i found another person to help me train the two remaining skill tiers (two outter ones, Exploration and Survival). Before i asked him to train i noticed at this point that Exploration was reduced to 65 pts! I thought surely this was a bug, so i reloged. But wheni logged back in, it still only showed that i had 65 pts in Exploration. I got the person to train up Survival (the tier furthest to the right), but because i only had 65 pts in Exploration, i was unable to train it up a level My roommate also experienced this same problem on his scout. Is there a quirk with training that is not documented in the manuals? Or is thisa bug? (I looked though all manuals and found no information about training), I dont have the holocron at easy access in real life Please help!

This is something most scouts consider a problem, in that Exploration XPand Hunting XP are both granted by harvesting. Once you've advanced one skill, the XP pool is cleared. As such, the other skill is no longer available. There have been numerous suggestions to base Exploration actually upon exploring the world, rather than harvesting, and hopefully the Devs will fix this soon.

Also, as a piece of advice, if you have to choose between bumping Exploration and Hunting, bump Exploration first. This grants additional uphill speed, which has saved my butt on multiple occasions.

Gwargus,

Did you only have 1065xp in Scout? If so when you trained in Hunting , third section from the left, it used the 1000xp that you had built up in Scout. When you reached 1000xp in Scout you have the option to put the points in of two fields, that is why it showed green in both fields. Those are Exploration and Hunting. Once you have used your 1000 points for one you have to build up another 1000 points to be able to train in the other. In other words the 1000xp does not allow you train in both, just one or the other. Hope this helps.

All,

This isa problem that almost all of us have had. I am going to add it to next weeks list, because its something that needs to be cleared up quickly.

Exploration and Hunting both use "Scouting" XP, which you gain from harvesting. You qualify at the same rate, but can only train one with those points. Once you train, you need to gain more XP to get back what you used for training the previous level.

It's not a bug - it's how it was designed, but it needs to be documented properly.

It's not that the experience necessarily needs to be different, just that people need to be appraised of it somehow. This falls under the purview of "noob mistake", and not "game mechanical failure". Other professions require using XP in more than one tier. And I'm sure a couple of them out there are making the same mistake.

Thanks for the info. I would have to agree that they should change it so exploration is more based on exploring than your scout harvesting experience. I can only imagin how many bug reports they keeo getting concerning this issue. If it was properly documented i wouldnt have reported it as a bug, but instead put forth to the developers to have it changed.I honestly thought i was gaining experience by exploring, but now that i think back about it, both tiers where raising at the same rate. I think i should be able to raise exploring and harvesting separately, they are basically two completely different things. If this is completely intended to help keep the scout balance thats cool, just a little statement from the Devs about this would be VERY nice. And save those bug queues from getting stacked with pointless bug reports

Hehe cant edit, i just realized our Scout Correspondant made a comment about this issue in the thread. So i will take that as a Dev statement. Thanks for putting it forth for better documentation!

Other professions, such as medic, are in the same boat. Three of the fourmedic branches all build the same kind of XP. Meds have to pick and choose which area to build when.

Thus, this is design feature; itis not a bug and is not unique to scouts.

Windowns,

Don't take it as a dev statement - I'm not a Dev, just the person who puts together everything we want, and goes with hat in hand to the Devs to ask for changes.

But like I said, I'll put it on my list and hope that they can make this change, as it simply requires writing something up and putting in the holo or in the manual.
