At the moment it's a waste of a mission slot.. It's more lucrative to just get 2 destroy missions and come back and get more, because finding 45 of something is gonna take a while. Once the ranger tracking thing is in place then these missions will actually be fun.

Kill 2 gnorts with one laser blast, I always say.

Take 1 explorer hunting mission, then go to the regular mission terminal and get a destory mission for the same type of creature. The regular mission terminals are good for 10-15 creatures of that type. Remember, when farming the creatures, do not destroy the lair. Let it stand, walk 150 meters away then walk back, creatures will then respawn.

Yep, that's the way to do it. Get an explorer and destroy mission of the same type. What's better is to get a group of people with the same types if you can. If you do that, make sure everyone gets a hit on each creature. You make beaucoup bucks doing that.

As Ronge_Ricin said, don't destroy the lair right away. What I usually do is destroy all the creatures around the lair, and then hit it once and then hit the peace button. That will start the spawning. Then once you clear those creatures out, hit the lair again. You can sometimes getquite a few creatures out of a lair this way, depending on how many are supposed to come out, and whether or not someone else has already come back and attacked it before you got there.

Okay. It's not so bad this time.

I disagree with SneakyBothan about these missions working like the others. I've been slowly killing womp rats over the last day or so and it would really suck if I had to split my creds between 2 or 3 people because they happened to be grouped with me when I killed the last one...

Guys,

The missions don't "suck" - they are just hard, and we need to develop strategies to make them more worthwhile. When I can go to a terminal and get a mission for 16k to kill Spineflap Solidiers - that's a great incentive. Granted, it may take a while, but that's the point - it gives you an excuse to go out exploring and hunting.

You all need to get the "do them fast rack up the dough" ideas out of your heads. The Devs are going to nerf every lair until the money-over-time is in line with what it should be. So don't expect to become a millionaire off these missions. If you want to be a millionaire, go be a weaponsmith.

If you want to be a Scout and want an excuse to run around the woods (or at least some kind of payment for it) take some recon or explore missions.

I personally like these missions. Was travelling from moenia to our PA south of keren and figured I'ld walk and survey and kill. Knowing likely spawns I grabbed a nightspider mission and ikopi mission. Completed both by the time I reached my PA. Nightspiders through the mountains ikopi when I reached the plains. Netted over 8000 experience between 2 weapons @ 1800 camp xp and 500-800 survey exp. Sure I could of flown to keren and had a boring 2k walk but whats the point of that.

Some of the missions do seem exceedingly hard like I saw one for nightspider queens. Only time I've seen them is one at a time when destroying certain lairs. 45 of them seems like a major headache.

Mainly I like them because you don't have to run to town every 5 minutes to get paid you go kill and kill and kill and get paid. Of course the killing also netted me a bundle of meat and bones to sell.

I love the hunting missions. They are a great supplement to my income. I grab 2 high value and as I am running around to my harvesters I kill stuff. I get money and xp while working. The 7.5K I got last night helped cover most of my maintenance costs. That means that my product, when sold is sort of at a higher profit. Cha-Ching! The 2 missions I had were for a total of 15K I finished 1 (Crazed Durnis) and half of the other (Gurrcats). Another easy one is scavenger rats. Those darned things are everywhere. Whack 30 and get 3-4K. Good stuff.

The beauty of scouting is that you are gonna do stuff like this anyway....Explore missions equal money on top of the weaps XP, combat skill XP, and scouting XP. Good Stuff!

Ok I got an EXPLORER MISSION from explorer mission terminal. Ok I killed the total number of things Ineeded but I still do not know how to finish mission. Any hints from any one out there. (There is no lair involved.)

Thank You

You have to kill a specific number of that type of creature. Usually in 15, 30 and 45 counts. hit CTRL+D then look at the details of your mission, the amount you need to kill is listed there.

Be careful though, if you select an Explorer mission for a type of animal, make sure they are all the same type. For example Nunas. If you take a mission for Nunas, diseased nunas don't count towards the amount you need to kill. At least this is the way it was last week, may have been fixed already.

You need to kill that specific animal only. I took one for Corellian butterflies. I had to kill butterflies only. Workers/drones didn't count towards the goal.

Also, you should see a count when you do kill the right one on your screen when it dies.

These missions will be great for rangers once the devs implement the upcoming feature allowing us to search for a particular kind of creature. As it stands now, to complete these missions in any timely manner virtually requires camping spawning grounds just outside towns. Running races with newbies to see who can get to and kill a silly nightspider first just isn't my idea of fun. Also, explorer missions need to work the same way regular missions do, with grouped members contributing to the kill count and sharing the proceeds.

As for your problem, ditto what the others said. First mission I took was for shau ... realized after hard encounters with shau hunters that they do not count towards the kill quota. I eventually saw the system notification in the chat box telling me I had X shau to kill to complete the mission. Otherwise, they worked as advertised.

On Tatooine I can get explorer missios that pay 10k for killing 45 Mountain Wortts. I do this while doing my harvester run. Great thing about mountain worrts is that they're slow as hell and give 70 hides each. Last night I got 50k pistol XP and 1900 hides from my first run on the nest..

I shoot the lair till it has dropped to 50%, I then do my harvester run and come back to a fully respawned nest, enough to get the total of 45 needed to complete the mission.

Results: 100k Pistol XP, 10k Scout XP, 3000 hides and 10k credits for completing the mission. All for 2 hours work.

The difficulty on these missions is completely out of whack. My BH friend gets a difficulty 24 mission for 30 swamp humbabas that pays out like 9k. Swamp humbabas are non-agro, non-grouping and give good XP and harvest. I get difficulty 14 missions from the same terminal and it gives me my choice of tabage scavengers (which I have never actually seen in all my time on Corellia since launch), wrixes of varying flavors, dire cats or slice hounds typically in amounts of 45 for approximately the same reward. All of the missions it wants to give me are aggressive pack hunters with little or no resources to harvest and less XP to be had overall.

Why is the higher difficulty rating linked to the easier mission?
