Was very, very close to that elusive Master Scout goal so I decided to go on a walkabout. Figured there was no better way to celebrate such a profession... Pretty much all my harvestors had been eaten up by some weird ion-storm a few weeks ago that made them snarfle maintenance cash faster than I could make it. Had no house or other ties, so figured I'd pick a planet at random and do some wandering.
The helpful travel terminal wasn't really, but I still managed to pick up a round-trip ticket to Dathomir at a reasonably affordable cost. Well, the ticket wasn't really either - but it was the cheapest of some of the more distant planets that I'd only heard about but never seen. Off I went.
In my miserly genius, I'd picked the cheapest outpost to fly to - some dinky little pirate post stuck off in the middle of nowhere. And of course, there was hardly anybody there. Kinda explained why it was so cheap of a ticket, eh? (At least they had a cloning center, which I quickly made use of - fearing the worst from everything I'd heard.) Anyway, not a single person would talk to me - well, nobody except for one whacko.
The whacko had some far-fetched tale about a cave with people who could float things around just by looking at them... Yes, I was bored and decided to follow his tip. It was only 12 or 13 km away, and besides - I was there to do some exploring after all. This just gave me an excuse. So I headed out.
The first thing I noticed was how 'un-alien' the place felt. The sky seemed a nice cheery blue - just like home. As I wandered along, there were a few concentrations of some really pinkish/purple flowering plant - seemed quite pretty. But when I did any looking around, the dirt was pretty much just dirt. Not sure what I was expecting. /shrug
Thanks to my handy datapad, I noticed a number of other outposts along the way - a miner post as well as a group of imps. I determined to stop by both locations and look for a friendly face. As a better-than-bad entertainer, I figured I wouldn't have much of a problem making friends...
Boy was I wrong. I did draw in a couple of decent-sized crowds at both spots - but not a single person was interested in a bit of chat. I thought one guy actually talked to me, but quickly found out I was mistaken. Hadn't heard that kinda language since the time I spilled ma's jar of 'special' sauce.
And the tips?? Boy. I was kinda hoping that there'd be a bit of recouping for the expensive ticket I bought for that rickety bucket of bolts that brought me here. Bah. I've seen better tippers in a jawa hut out in the middle of nowhere on Tatooine. I think my tip jar after the entire trip came out to 1700 credits. And that's just cuz one guy gave me 1000!!! Wow.
/cough Anyway. I digress. I did finally make it to the nifty magical cave of crystals or some-such - but that was a bit disappointing. There were a few people hanging around, but not one of them were floating - either themselves or anything else... Did see a few critters in the wild - with my lovely mask-scent, not a single use did I get outta that cloning sample I'd left behind.
So. If you've read this far, you're a better man than I. Long story short - new master scout on Sunrunner. Who thinks the next time he gets the urge to explore, will check out the local tap...

WatchingOne,
Congratulations! Welcome to the Master Scout club.
As the newest member AND a better than bad dancer, you get to work on the new dance pavilion I want to put in the backyard. Unfrortunately, there happens to be a nest of ornery womp rats that have taken up residence right where I wanted to build it. So get rid of 'em, and then build the thing. If you're good, I'll let you work on your dancing there.
So what's next? More wandering?

Heh - thanks, folks. Think I'm gonna take a break from wandering for a spell. I'm almost up to droid engineer or weaponsmith. Gotta make up my mind which way to go - I'm leaning towards the DE just because so many people seem to hate it. Also gonna hit that musician title, then probably head back to the scouting line and see how I like the ranger stuff. I'm quickly running low on SP's - really dreading the day I have to actually DROP something. /shudder Does it get easier to figure out what you wanna drop?
