Thread: master scout in 1 day -- howto
I tend to enjoy the journey more than the destination.
Once you grind up to Master Scout, what then? If you have no experience to go with it achieving the goal is hollow at best.
I'm at the point where all I need is 280AXP to get Master Scout...and I wouldn't trade the last 4 weeks of playing for one day of powergrinding. By playing and levelling over time you learn to use your skills and abilities. You discover how gaining one skill changes your whole style of play (Exploration IV had a huge impact on everything I do).
Powergrinding removes the ability to learn your character fully.
Wow, a run from the Dantooine outpost to Wayfar??? You do know Wayfar is on Tatooine. How are you capable of running out of dantooine's gravitational field? You have one of those rocket packs don't you?
Half the fun of playing the game is the journey.
Lucius,
For someone going BH or CH, I would agree that it may seem long to have to make it through the Scout trees. But something worth having is worth working hard for.

I don't know about giant sand beetles but I do know a good creature to trap on. The 'a mountain worrts' on Tat were nice xp, 221 per each for what I was throwing. They are slow creatures and don't chase you very far. Someone else probably suggested this somewhere else on this forum but I learned this on my own. Was kinda glad that I did cause I didn't like crafting a whole bunch of traps for little bits of xp. Once I found out about these things I finished the 3 and 4 trapping in a few hours. Was pretty nice.
I do have a question though. Would you be able to crank out camps and such in a factory? I know that you get xp for crafting them and was just wondering if I could get a nice amount of xp if I just threw a whole bunch of stuff in a factory and hit go. Would be nice.

Suggestions like this are exactly what alot of people look for. Some of us didn't want to "enjoy" the journey through the scout trees. It is just necessary for the bounties that we seek to have. I must admit though, now that I'm master I have found many very good uses for scouting and I think I'm going to do a little rangering with my bounty hunting. It's alot more fun then it originally seemed, but ONLY at the master level.
Ummm... I mastered Scout on my way to mastering Marksmen. No necessary "evils" were required. I stayed within my limits. There is no need to power level scout. Not when working on marksmen skills. If you're mastering marksmen you'll master scout if you just remember to harvest, throw the occasional trap, setup camps and craft traps and camps while in camp.
I agree, scout turned out to me more fun than I thought it would be. When working on the CoA: Act 2 missions there's a "delivery mission" that requires you to walk 5km from the smuggler outpost on Endor to a Rebel commander. Lemme tell you terrian negoation and mask scent came in handy on that trek. Once you're go get that far from a town there's a lot of nasties out there on Endor. A lot of nasties. I was white knuckling that last 1500m.
WOW! Now all I have to do is find a bunch of high powered characters to group with! Easier said than done. Check out the response on the posting for the AXP project. Many respond, few follow through. I continue to find that most players who have already "made it" can't be bothered to assistthose of us who haven't. This is probably the MOST frustrating thing about this game. I don't mind having to work my way up, although getting killed every 5 minutes when I first started was annoying. My problem is that in order to Master, you must have AXP which requires you to rely on the generosity of strangers. I started the game late, and when I did there werealready moreMasters already running around than you could shake a stick at. As the galaxies (servers) become more densely populated, and new players are encouraged to start up on newly created ones, what happens to those of us who aren't power players? Nothing. Unless we find some Ultra Master God Bounty Hunter to take pity on us. And I don't like begging....
Maybe a negative outlook, but for anyone who may have just started, you will agree that not being in on the ground floor of this endeavor sure has a ton of drawbacks.
My hats off to the people who thought up the idea of the AXP project and those of us who were willing to give it a shot. Seems to have petered out now, but with any luck and a little bit of common courtesy, I may have a chance to make MS before the end of the millenium.

i signed up for the axp project...great idea.
i went to throw traps on these sand beetles however and all my traps seem to fail, im trying to get to level one. is it dependent on level of creature whether you succeed or fail? thanks.
Rsync,
Yes it is - so go for the smaller, lower level critters to start.
Read my Novice Scouting guide and my From Novice to Master guides for more tips on how to level your trapping quickly.
