Why is the artisan profession getting to build a trap to catch shelffish? Shouldn't that be a scout skill?

Does anyone else feel the same?

It's not a trap, it's a harvester.

Altho I have been know to stalk the wiley quahog through the wilds of a tidal flat, it was not a real exciting hunt.

There is even a neat craftable tool for Crustacean farming as well. Artisans with Engineering 3 can make the tool, but not until they have quested for the item and have the schematic in their inventory. Once they find the schematic and craft the tool, anyone can use it. Once the players have the tool they need to have the tool in their inventory, be standing in water, not swimming and then the shellfish trap will have a chance of finding mollusks and crustaceans (Who's got the melted butter?)

This is what it says!!

Wow, must be a quahog rake. Thank the Maker for that, littlenecks and steamers for lunch.

Now, with the fact we can soon milk, butter comes from milk... I see crabs on the beach where I live.... we got us a clambake.

Does anyone care that someone is "trapping" clams and mussels, and maybe some crabs?

Let em do it, anyone can use it. Wonder if our harvesting bennies kick in tho?

Oh come on. Whats wrong with you? It's a trap to catch shellfish. Scout and ranger traps are totally different. They are things that affect creature stats in combat. They aren't bear traps or anything. You don't use a trap to capture the animal. Just because they used the word "trap" doesn't mean its a scout-type trap. I somehow doubt that the crustecean trap will envolve the artisan entering combat and throwing a small box into the water.

Maybe for crabs... a crab trap or a lobster pot maybe. Oh my, my Scout traps feel so threatened.

But I agree, this is much ado about nothing.

At least the Scout traps work as intended most of the time. As a Master Ranger I use Scout traps (Pdart, glow wire, ldart) about 95% of the time. Can't tell you the last time I tossed a Ranger trap.

Smile and be happy, let them gather mussels

I think this is a good time to bring up the fact that, we scoutsshould be thankful our profession isworks so well that some people can actually get upset about suchtrivial matters. Check around some of the other profession boards, it could be worse...much, much worse....
