Thread: Bio-Engineer or Creature Handler?
I got Master TKA last night, and I'm aimless right now - I figured I'd go up Scout and see where that takes me...
That takes me to Ranger, BE, or CH. I don't have the SP left to make a dent in Ranger, so that leaves Bio-Engineer and Creature Handler.
I have all the money I'll ever need, so money-making opportunities don't really factor in, so it comes down to whichever is more fun.
So which is more fun?
I would have to say that both are fun in there own way.
On one hand you have bio-engineer, I never mastered it but from the bit that I did of it, when you make a real good level 10 pet you feel awsome! and its crafting in case you are tired of killing with TK.
Then you have CH, if you want to kill more, then this is the ticket for sure!, and is a good combo to put with TK if you like to do alot of PvE. Its more about what you would like to do, want to give crafting a shot? or do you want to kill more! lol its up to you.
I hope this helped you out.
Shallow,
Seeing as how I'm still locked in a blood feud with the CHs, I say go BE.

Honestly, you'll probably have more fun as a CH. But BE is great for making fun things to drop in your house.

Actually was a CH, for about 3.2 seconds, when I realized someone has to heal the stupid pet every fight. Buh Bye.
BE - ok cool, I can die a painful death will sticking a needle in a rancor to make a tremendously steroided out bunny... uhhhh, this too we shall pass on.
Of course, that's me... if it is not immediatley gratifying, I lose interest (lol, small joke, as I am a Master Ranger)...
Of the two poor choices, I would go CH, as you get bigger critters and don't have to gring your buns off

If you don't have the SP to "make a dent in Ranger," you should probably look more closely at the requirements for BE. You need Novice Medic, and the entire Organic Chemistry tree to qualify. That's 29 skill points, just for the medical requirements.
Certainly BE's fun, but it's also a lot of work. Remember, it's a crafting profession. In order to acquire the resources you'd need to make pet stims, tissues and even clones, you'd need harvesters and the ability to Survey (i.e. Artisan). There's another 15 points, plus another 2-14, depending upon how far up the Surveying tree you chose to climb.
Finally, a non-Master in an elite crafting profession can never make items as good as a Master can. Without profession mastery, you'll be lacking the experimentation points needed to make Really Good Stuff, and would have to compensate by using Really High Quality components.
If you were to focus on clones only, you might find it a little easier, but again, without climbing high up the DNA Sampling tree, you'll never be able to get the very-high-quality DNA needed to carry some of the creature stats into the clone (ranged attack, for example, only seems to carry through if you're using VHQ DNA).
CH, on the other hand, doesn't really involve much work. Climb two trees in Scout, then start taming and training baby critters. Use them in a fight, tame and train more, and show them off to your friends. I'ma Master Bio-Engineer, a Master Scout and a Creature Handler (working on Master). It's a good combination.
Iguess it really depends upon how much work you want to put into a profession, and whether you can afford the skill points.
So, there's the dilemma. You're going to have to carefully plan your skills and take into consideration your way of playing the game. Either way, it's possible that you'll face giving up some of that TKA power. TKA and CH is a very good combo...getting in there and fighting with your pets is said by TKA/CH combo folks to be a serious rush. If TKA is fun for you, then TKA/CH will be even more fun, I think.
