Thought I'd try soem fishing today and it works! Unfortunatelly I only had 1 jar of 5 baits with me and didn't catch anything. Tip, do not try to run up to the catch if you are still in alt-mode. Trust me, you will only end up in deep water. 
Oh well, I'll buy some more bait and see if I can catch anything later tonight.
