OK, it's a Friday night and my girlfriend's going out with her girlfriends so I was looking forward to some quality, guilt-free playing time. I'm a 4/4/4/3 Scout with just half a box to go in Wilderness Survival IV (need another 10,000 points) for the sweep. I'm out of hides and bones so I got ready to settle in for some harvesting and then some camp grinding.
I log in already in the middle of the Nabooian wilderness so I start driving around in my Speeder looking for some good spawns. I find some that con red to me, even though I'm a Novice Rifleman with a Laser Rifle and a T-21, but I've taken on these creatures before so I have confidence I can take them out. Every shot either was minimum damage or a miss (along with Dodge and Counter Attack). OK, not going so well. Confidence is dropping. I find a solo creature, again it cons red, and again I'm either doing minimum damage or I'm missing. I've never had such bad luck before. I always use /aim and then spam three headshots and then I get off a mindshot if I have to run so maybe I can bleed the last bit out of my prey before it incapacitates me. Not only did this not work, but I had forgotten to store my Speeder so the creature took maybe five seconds to destroy it while I lay there incapacitated.
OK, I say to myself, this bites. As I come to, I apply mask scent because there are a couple of red con, aggro spawns around me. Of course I don't have to take a step before something notices me and starts chasing me. I quickly inject a stim pack and then burst run. Now I'm picking up additional aggros from the other spawn. I have a train of creatures all following me. Then I see the dreaded "You're getting tired..." message. Fortunately, just as they caught up to me they lost interest and returned to their lairs.
So I make camp and wait until I'm no longer tired. I have some spare camp kits for just such an emergency and I still have my vehicle rental unit that I received when I first started, but I'd rather not use it until it's absolutely necessary. I check the map for the closest town and see that it's not too far away and they have a shuttle port. I make my way there and then I shuttle to a player city I had heard a lot about, but had never been to. I look for a vehicle there, but couldn't find one (well, I did, but it was 10K more than I had seen elsewhere). While looking at the merchants I realized that I could have purchased a comparable harvest droid and a comparable T-21 rifle for a total of almost 70K less than I spent. This hurt because I'm a frugal shopper and will (and have) traveled whole planets to compare prices and features of the items I want.
So I shuttle to the city closest to the mall where I found the vehicles I wanted (or so I thought) and then ran the 1500m. Once there I did not see the vehicle merchant I thought was there. Damn. Then I check my planet map for vehicle vendors. Hmmm, doesn't seem to be a listing specifically for vehicle vendors. So I start running from town to town looking for one and when I was lucky enough to find a vehicle merchant they were either empty or didn't have the vehicle I was looking for. That extra 10K credits versus the time I spent looking was getting smaller and smaller in my mind.
Then I remembered the words of Han Solo who said, "No reward is worth this." I called it a night and logged out. No harvested resources. No rifle points. 600 Wilderness Survival experience points and one less vehicle. Yeah, I'd say that last night sucked.
Thanks for letting me share.

question....what is the condition of your rifle. If you let it fall too low, the damage will become almost negligable.
word of advice #2: store your speeder.......

The T-21 is brand new...it's only droped three points. The Laser Rifle is something like 875/1000, so it should still be in good shape. As for the Speeder, yeah, I know. I have a Rebel Ranger/Bounty hunter on another server so I know about storing the vehicle...those bounties and Stormtroopers have no respect for one's wheels...I mean hovercraft. I left it out in case I needed a quick getaway, since I wasn't having much luck that night. I just wasn't fast enough. Live and learn.

I am just wondering what cons red on Naboo, and for that matter, Tatooine, Corellia and Talus...
I can get red cons, if I am totally unarmed (I have like 18 unarmed xp, more by accident than design).
just wondering
JB
oh and check the resists on your target, maybe it had a high resistance to your rifles.. Peko Albatross for example, 100% resistant to Kinetic, means TK do 0 damage. Wait, that cons red, never mind.

To me, at least, add to that list Narglatch, Giant Peko Peko, Ikopi Stag and Shaupaut Hunters. It was those damn Shaupaut Hunters that were causing me the problems last night.

maybe someone in control was playing games with you....
more than once i've said to my buddy, "Hey man, you know, the absolute worst thing that could happen right now is for us to be attacked....we're both in pretty bad shape...."
lo and behold not only did we get attacked....but that nice peaceful spot we were sitting on just a few seconds ago was now the breeding nest of 2 ancient krayt dragons............

If you didn't already know, rifles are the worst possible weapon at close combat in the game, if you aren't near Master Rifleman. Maybe that is why you missed so much.

I usually make a sacrifice to the Hunt Gods and it clears problems like these right up.

Oh, I'm all about sniping from a distance (55m-65m). Usually I can kill in three shots, but that night it was *miss*, *counterattack*, *dodge*,chargeand then I'm snorting sod. Fortunately I've only had one night like that and I knew to call it quits before I woke up in a cloning center. ![]()
