I thought of this while out grinding combat exp. I think this would really help the game economy by encouraging more non-crafters to gather and sell resources to crafters. Here's how it will work.

On the properties of any acquired resource, list all of the things that can be crafted with that particular resource and what quality(ies) is(are) valued on the resource. This would allow non-crafters to understand what resources are useful and not and would encourage combat exp grinders to gather resources and sell them directly to who can benefit from them the most. An example resource property might look like this.

Resource name: Corellian Leathery Hide

overall quality: 850

durability: 768

some other quality: 412

yet another quality: 14 (no, i don't know beans about resources)

Items that require this resource:

Yes, some of the entries would be quite long. Or you could quite possibly just put the items where that particular item is required (i.e. talusian water vapor would list every item that calls for it specifically and would list what qualities are valued per item). I know this would be a pain for someone at SOE to have to code, but would be a huge plus to the game and we'd love you all for it.

How bout we let the artisans tell us what they want, they set some low price, we tell em to shove it, harvest the stuff anyhow and sell to the highest bidder.

While I understand where you're coming from, there's just no way to do this - the database space would be enormous. And the amount of cross referencing it would do is kinda crazy.

I can safely say that this is nearly physically impossible to implement.

The best way to do it is as we've tried in the past - get the folks who want your stuff to tell you what they're looking for.
