Hi. I'm just a newbie lookin' for some information, so please be kind with a poor ignorant and answer to this:

I'm a novice scout, just got the III box in every Scout skill, and was plannin' to get a veichle or a mount of some sort.

Now what I want to know is : what's the best and cheapest rideable thing out there?

Creature Mounts are very slow, but the only advantage of them is being able to fire from them, which isn't that great, since you can get off your bike, and they cost 0 to maintain. The fastest mount in a carrion spat. Those are level 10 so you can use them even if you aren't a Creature Handler. (Non-Creature Handlers can use anything from level 1-10.

Vehicles are probably going to do better for you. They are much much faster. X-34 Landspeeders are the typical newb vehicles. They decay at a very slow rate, and they take the longest to decay. They are also the slowest. But vehicles cost money to repair every once in a while. Swoops are the fastest, but not by much over a Speederbike. For now, I would get a Landspeeder. Once you can get enough money to repair your vehicle every once in a while, you should get a Speederbike or Swoop.

Hope that helps.

PS: What server are you on? If you are on Shadowfire I'd be willing to help you out.

There are two things you can get - you can either get a creature mount (which are slower, but there is more variety and you can attack while on one) or you can get a vehicle (which are faster, but you can't shoot on one).
I would suggest that for simple ease, get a Speederbike Swoop. This is the "motorcycle" looking vehicle. It's the fastest of the four vehicles, and typically the most available. The cost will depend on your server - I've seen them go from anywhere between 10000 and 30000 credits each.

Whoa, a question Delta can't answer by telling the questioner to read the guide. I had wondered if he remembered how to answer such questions

P.S. For those new to the forum: I am just kidding though, Delta is the best correspondent and not just because he's the Scouting Correspondent!

Cheapest mount.... well i got this 22 year old Kaduu out back. Hes backs running a little low these days. And hes not as quick as used to. You'll have to get back the constant problems with his health as well. Hes also deadly afriad of height, kreetles and theed. But im sure i can get rid of him cheap

/note this is a bad joke

Someone posted they were willing to work with you on this i think. But really you have two options if its just a mount you want and not a combat tank. Talk to a BE about getting really low end Bantha/Kaduu it will have like 200 HAM and DONT USE IT IN COMBAT! But a BE should be able to throw it togther really cheap. If its as a tank you want it. You have two options as a non-CH you are limited to Cl10. In a wild creature thats a kaduuu/spat/lesser dewback with 900HAM. In a BE pet you are looking at something wtih 2k HAM. Or there is currently a bugged (althugh the devs have said it wont be fixed until the combat balance. I still dont like it personally) CL10 that has 10k/6k/2k HAM with kin 60 protection. But they wont be cheap.

Please ask questions its the only way we can answer them

As a scout, I'd suggest using a mount over a vehicle. Vehicles travel so fast that the spawns can appear long after you are gone, so you spend a lot of time doubling back to see what showed up on your radar behind you, especially when the servers are busy.

With a mount, the "faster than walking, slower than flying" speed works well if you are going from A to B and hunting along the way. My preferrence before I went CH was the lesser dewback. It looked cool. Now,my CL65"Screaming Bantha of Death" is the only way to ride....
