Okay, I'm gonna look like a total noob here probably, but I never have searched for the answers to two burning questions in this little head of mine...

1. How do you get fish? I assume you use the fishing pole, and probably need a body of water. But I think I'm missing something since I can never "fish".

2. Where do you get milk?

Read my From Novice to Master Guide for everything you want to know about fishing.

Milk is something that we'll be able to get as of the next publish that is currently on Test Center, but right now it's extremely rare, so don't even bother looking for it. But hopefully, that will change in two weeks or less.

Fishing is the easy answer. Just need to find a body of water, equip your fishing pole, drag some bait onto your pole and choose the Start Fishing option when clicking on the pole. There's some good fishing guides out there that will give you strategies on the best was to catch the big ones.

Finding milk is much more difficult to answer. It's a very rare resouce that can be looted on Dantooine from what I hear. Soon though, scouts/rangers are supposed to be able to harvest milk from herbivores.

Thanks a lot. I found a great fishing guide on the Scout boards that answered most of my questions. And milk I guess I'll wait on until the patch.

Milk: I know nothing about it, except that, rumor has it, it does a body good.

Fish: I got a little technique.. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but when it does, it will allow you to get fishing done from within a camp, which means that you get your Wilderness Survival XP that much faster.

Stand on a relatively level beach, with one foot in the water, one foot on dry land. I am not totally certain if timing the tide has any effect, but it doesn't seem to. If you're standing right when you drop your camp, there will be water within the camp, and you'll be able to fish right from that spot.

Best thing to do, so far as I've figured, for getting quantity is to get people to fish with you. If they're unable, have them give you their fish to filet, and give them back the bait. Another technique that seems to work is, once you get the message that you're reeling in the fish, move toward the fish, until the bobber is about even with the end of the pole. You'll draw the fish up almost 100% of the time. Be careful not to get too close, though.

Hope these help out with the Wilderness Survival XP and the fish harvesting.

I highly reccomend reading Volsted's Power Fishing Guide (do an advanced search) when getting started fishing. As for milk, I think someone around here knows but isn't telling (was that JBMat? wouldn't be too suprising

). But you can loot it in small amounts from some things on Dant.

Bait can be gotten throught the use of the forage skill that you get at survival 1. Bait will be clearly labelled as "Bait" when you examine it.

Ok - twas me - and here is where you find milk.

Debris piles in caves spawn milk randomly. Find one that does, be ready to sit on it, 30 minute cycles usually. Boring. And it will spawn milk at random intervals in random amounts. Be ready to be bored to tears and fight off the guys who are reading this.

Nightsisters drop it. Better be a real good combat type, they are real tough. I about hate to solo them, but can even thoughthey cheat.

Meatlumps/Chunkers/local thugs - the higher caste levels sometimes, rarely, when the moon is right, and you tied your left shoe first, drop milk. Don't hold your breath or camp them to do this, you will turn blue and max survival before you get a lot. I got more force crystals out of these clowns than I did milk.

And just to uphold my "good"?? name, lol... several of y'all did email me on where to find it, and I told.

With the upcoming patch, I reckon milk prices will fall below the mad creds stage, but not too low. I think I can get 500-750 cpu now, later I am hoping for 50-100 cpu.

So there, the secret is out.

or is that secrets are...

Awesome thanks! Tho I have ANOTHER question now. Nowhere was bait addressed. Tonight in the game I tried everything as bait.... live bees, other lair loots, meat, etc etc.... and nothing seemed to be baitable. So what can you use for bait?

Well, glad to hear. I still wish they would make Milk-Harvesting a Ranger ability and not a Scout ability. Save the truly good harvesting for the Rangers. Scouts are a dime a dozen. (Or is that penny?)
