Tell me about it. I only need Survival IV to get Master Scout, but BOY is it going slow... I'm usually out by myself (Rifleman / Creature Handler / Ranger type) so it's one person in camp. I actually sat in one camp until it -automatically- disbanded after an hour and gave me, I think, 800xp...

Since I'm a rifleman, I generally don't get hurt much (my Humbaba keeps targets at a distance for me)... so I don't really need to camp to HEAL that often (but it happens)... so what I do is survey for resources while I'm out hunting. If I find a good concentration of something I need (I'm also a tailor) then I park a camp on top and start sampling. Weeeee.

I also use this time to skill-grind Image Design on myself (18xp per and 91 Mind cost) and before the change to /sampling I would play music or dance (which burns Action).... now, with the massive Action hits on sampling, I can't do that. So I sit. And wait. And wait.

I know what I -should- do is not pay attention to it and just go on about the game... but every other type of exp can be acquired by DOING something. This wilderness survival xp is acquired by.... SITTING there. I popped one camp down just so I could call my pet, and then almost immediately broke the camp down and got 60xp. But that's a lot of bone and hide down the drain to do over and over...

BEST bet, of course, is to find a great resource location where OTHER people are sampling... and park a camp on top of them! More people in camp = more exp. And most often they're AFK macro sampling anyway, so they'll be there a while.

The approach I used was to run around high-density hunting areas, outside the no-build zone, looking for people with severe wounds. I would then offer to heal them for free in my camp. Nine times out of ten the person would agree as it saved them a long hike back to town. In this manner, I was able to max out each camp with about 10 minutes work. Of course, you need to have basic medic skills to do this as well.

When this failed, I did exactly the same thing asSerpaijen. I looked for AFK people and macro samplers and stealth camped on top of them. With 2 people in the camp you only need to spend about 15 minutes to max out its value. With basic medic skills, you can gain some extra xp by healing the samplers as well.

heh... some guy on bloodfin paid myself and 2 others 5 k each to sit in a camp with him for awhile. I didn't mind it as it got me away from the scouting grind...(GRR). but it did get annoying as the other 2 started griping after the first camp was disbanded...

Sample while in a campsite so you are damaging and healing yourself in the campsite (train novice artisan) or just spam your forage key untill you need to sit..

Stay in the camp (solo) for at least 21 minutes then disband the camp and repeat.

If you have two people in the camp, you only need about 16minutes..

If people have wounds (not damage) to heal you can reduce your camp time significantly...
