I am very confused on this today, I got my mask scrent skill and I was trying it out I don't seem to get any exp nor do I see anything working at all

Maskscent has to be used near an aggressive creature, the red dots on your mini-map. It will not work near non-aggressive creatures, they will break your maskscent and you will have to wait 60 seconds before putting it back on.

Also, maskscent at explore 2 will not work very often, cause your camoflauge skill is low. If you were a bothan, it would be easier. You should try white conned aggressive mobs or below, they are the easiest to get maskscent to work on.
