Thread: Is trapping 4 useful?

I am sorry to say that I will not have enough skill points to master the scout profession let alone make it into the ranger profession. However, I will be able to make it up to Trapping 4 (as well as 4 in 2 other branches). I currently only have Trapping 2 and have noticed that even against the newbie creatures it fails often.

If I go all the way up to Trapping 4 will I be able to uses traps on the higher level creatures (like level 50 or so)?

Am I just wasting my time putting points into trapping if I only go up to Trapping 4?

Bio-Engineering is still THE most broken profession. Yes, that's right. Even with the first fixes for bio-engineering half of skills produce products that are worse then what can be found in the wild. For the record, DE is not as broke as BE (stuff works it is just that a lot doesn't make sense).

I have trapping 4, and I would say it is usefull. But the better traps come with 3, the P(something) Darts. They snare you opponent for a set amount of time, where they can only move a few meters throughout.

The Trapping 4 Traps, don't work as long, kinda sucks, but it renders them imobile for a SHORT period of time. Short being no-where near long enough.

In short, if it gives you a bonus for trapping, yes it's good (can't remember off the top of my head), but that trap that comes with it, isn't anything special (and is hopefully getting beefed up a little at some point).

PS. Just looked it up and it does yield a +10 to trapping skill.

Thanks for the info...

However,I do not really care about what the trapping 4 traps do I just wanted to know if the total trapping skills you get by having Trapping 4 will allow me to use them on the higher level creatures. You see, I am a master Bio-Engineer and a soon to be master Creature Handler. For the most part I bring very little to my groups besides my pet(s). Take my pets out of the equation and I have very little offensive skills. So basically I was interested in traps to give me something to do while grouped. But if it were to turn out that traps rarely work on the higher level mobs I just do not see the point in them.

Oh, one more question (after answering whether or not the skills you get from Trapping 4 = a total of 30 trapping, is capable of trapping higher level mobs):

Can traps be used on droids? I know traps cannot be used on humanoids so I am wondering about droids.

Guys,

The upper level Scout traps do work well on higher level creatures. I made Trap Master in two days using P-darts, Adhesive Mesh, Glow Wire and Glow Juice traps on Fambaas.

I would say that Trapping 4 is not the worse skill you could dump those last skill points into. You will hit a bit more often, but probably not more often enough that you would really notice the difference.

At least get to level III, the Phenociene Dart has really been a force multiplier in taking down creatures. It almost makes combat boring. Throw dart. Go Prone. Blast away with a sliced master weaponsmithed carbne until they're down to 20%. Stand up. Melee (or blaster) down the rest. Stim pack, twice, and I'm ready for the next. I'm sure if I put some thought into it I woudn't even have to melee, but then I like to keep my action pool high for burst run.
