Imagine my surprise last night, I log in late, really only so I could run over to my favorite weaponsmith (Jaegar, Restuss, Starsider), to pick up a few new LLC's....and I whack a squall on the way, harvest it's hide and wham! I lose 60,000 scouting exp. It said "You are now at your maximum scouting level" or something similar.

I had 100,000 scouting xp stacked up, and I am actually slowly selling Ranger skills back to trade for BH skill. But it would have been nice to be warned that I was going to lose points after the patch. What if I had decided that because of the patch, I wanted to pursue the Ranger skills more?

No real harm done, since I don't think I am going to pursue Ranger anymore, but it sure hacks me off.

This is not realy new. It seems like they just tell you know. You can only hold twice as much XP as the next skill you can get. (or the final skill if you have it.) They check this cap everytime that XP is modified. So you had 100k scouting from your Ranger past, but you max is now 40k. So the game will adjust it.

It is annoying that you cant save XP that you did gain before. You will have to "re-grind" your way back up to Master Ranger. But this isn't new.

Ahh, so the bug was that I was allowed to keep the 100,000 scout exp I had banked, even after I sold back a couple of Ranger skills. Then that was fixed in the patch, and the first time I harvested post-patch, the game re-set me to where I should have been. Dang, thought I found a bug

That happened to me with my rifle skills. I gave up all my rifle skills to go Novice BE and the first time I killed something I lost over 100k. I felt sad, remembering all the putrid decay mites who died to get me the 100k rifle xp.

What happened is as was said. You dropped a skill, so your surplus xp was just upped by the amount the skill you dropped. The next time that xp changed, harvesting, it took the extra xp beyond the double cap, away. This has always in the in the game, but you get a message that tells you that now. Its in the manual too. If you spend xp on gaining a skill, you don't get that xp back if you sell back the skill. You only get back the skill points.

Hopefully this makes it clear, and hopefully this doesn't make you leave ranger. But if you are pursuing another profession, that's cool.
