Thread: Seems the original concept for creature harvesting would be more useful than current model
I am talking about the one harvest per resource type,so a creature with meat, hide, and bone can be harvested by 3 different scouts. Honestly, how many of you are ever in groups with more than 3 scouts that actually need to harvest?
With the global reduction in creature resources and the 60% group rule, you need approx 3 scouts to harvest what the old solo amount was. So this new harvest model is really hurting me, since I mainly play solo or with a small group of friends, only one of which has scout skills. Whats funny in an ironic sorta way, I have stopped making traps and very rarely a tent, and then the cheapest version if I need it, since every thing got more expensive to make and the resources to make them alot rarer.
Ictus,
You are the second person who has claimed that that was the original model for creature harvesting.
Where did you get that from? The in-game screen?
Or was this a Beta thing that I don't know about?

I remember reading it somewhere, but I haven't been able to find reference to it anymore. It was early in the game when I read it. If I find it I will post reference to it here. Unfortunately, it will be tonight as work starts in a little bit.
See ya all in game,
Yea, the in game screen. Some times while traveling, you will get a loading screen showing how harvesting works (never has worked this way), but it explains that a slain creature can be harvested once from each resource pool, it actually makes alot of sense if you thing about it. Its alot more realistic that one scout can harvest hides, another can harvest bone, and a third can harvest meat, assuming that the creature as all 3 options, then 20 grouped scouts all slicing off 60% of one creatures hide.
Another way to think of this new harvesting model is that its a nerf except when in a group of 4 or morescout/rangersworking together. Larger PA's should benift if they make manditory harvest days, but for every else its blows. As far I know, most of the Hide, Meat, and Bone market was provided by individuals from either solo or small group play.
Ic,
It's not a nerf. It's just bugged.
Let's get this fixed and then revisit the issue.

I remember seeing it in a load screen but I also seem to remember reading it in the manual...
Not that I'm supporting the idea. I'm all for the 60% rule. Let the Devs clean it up and I think it will work wonderfully.

"OK, I investigated a bit more, thanks to the fact that GreenMarine is a fool who came into the office during his vacation.
He says that getting hit with the reduction when grouped with a pet is a bug, and that he'll fix it shortly.
He also says that the solo results were decreased a bit, but not by 50%,
to offset the fact that now you can now get resources in a group, which means there are a lot more resources in the world."
- Holo, replying to what GreenMarine said about the pet bug and global reduction
Actually, the nerf is the global reduction in creature resources of about 20-30% is what I was talking about. Some people say its higher, I really don't know. All I know for sure is I get alot less resources per creature than I use to and a global search on the bazaar shows less then a 150 auctions for hide and meat, with most lots less then 50 per sale. A seach for bone had about 180 auctions, but most of them were for wood ![]()
