Thread: Almost a Master Scout
Does anyone have any advice for finding apprentices to train ? I'd rather not wander around town aimlessly spamming if it can be avoided...
I am currently based in Nashal on Talus but it's pretty quiet there, so I think I'm going to have to move to somewhere more densely populated for a while - any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance,
Getting my axp took forever, and I started training everyone I could as soon as I had boxes in any skills. I was able to accrue enough xp to make novice CH (and nearly novice ranger as well) with enough xp in survival and trapping for those boxes int he ranger line as well before I got my last 20 axp.
Unfortunatly, being months after initial release, there is not a steady influx of new blood the requires training, so it does take a bit. I would recommend one of two things:
a) go to a fairly busy Starport; Bestine, Corellia, etc. and look for players approaching the trainers neer the ports. In Coronet, there are quite a few trainers right near the port which makes finding trainees easy.
b) find someone who has maxed a skill, but has a lot of left over xp. Ask them if they will surrender the skill, and let you retrian them. Survey is a great one for this, as are some of the marksmen skills.
Other then that, its wait around and see who shouts for training or make the announcements yourself.
Having /invite hotkeyed is a greta idea.
People will ninja-train as fast as they'll ninja-harvest...I can't tell you the amount of times I've tolda guy I'll train him only to get to him to find out someone else already invited/trained him just as I got there.
Arrrrghhh
Sorry about that worthless post about folks...
I remember getting that first 620 points of AXP was a total nightmare. Most of what I did was sit at the cantina and wait, sit at the shuttle ports and wait, sit at the med center and wait. Eventually picked up novice medic and started training in other medic skills to have more skills to train. All of these helped... but the best thing I did was find someone to act as and true apprentice. I took him to the NPC trainer and he got novice scout and then I took him out hunting and let him harvest all the critters we killed (well... mostly I killed but whatever :smileyhappy
and I trained him in every scout skill he has (as well as some pistol skills) and that is how I got my first 620 AXP.
The good news is that getting AXP after you get you master is a snap. I put my Master Scout title on as soon as I got it and have had a lot of people seek me out for training. When I get to the master level of my elite professions I should have plenty.
Anyways... good luck man.
Thanks for all the tips eveyone ! I hope to get started on the struggle tonight ![]()
AXP isn't hard to get if you set your mind on getting it and you don't even have to spam the spatial channel. Here's a couple of suggestions:
Stand at the front of the local starport and don't wander around. People always come up to where the most people are congregating to ask for training.
Have /invite hotkey'ed and ready to go. When someone asks for training hit /invite someone and you've got 'em.
Sit in your local cantina and don't wander around. Peopleeventually wander into the cantina to ask for training.
Sit in front of the shuttlepad and don't wander around. People ask for training sometimes while they're waiting for a shuttle.
Always go on your AXP mission during primetime hours (evenings, Saturdays and Sundays)
Help some newbs out. Group with them, show them the ropes and train them. Intermediate skills are only worth 20 AXP, but you can usually get a few skills trained for a newb in an hour (give or take).
Group with people you don't know. This is how I've gotten most of my AXP and met a lot of cool characters. If your wandering around the wilderness and someone stops to chat in your camp ask if they want to group for awhile. If someone asks for assistance with a mission, help them out.
Uhr is definetly correct about re-locating to a busy city. I haven't tried to re-training technique
