Thread: Hunting Missions ?
Greetings All !
How do I figure out where hunting missions spawn themselves?
A friend of mine told me that you just take the mission and then go wander the wilderness. He said that the game will increase the odds of a random lair spawning for the creature that you're hunting.
However, I tried this today and got well over 2500 m out of town without encountering any of the creature I was hunting! And I was checking just about every lair I encountered.
Then, I checked my waypoints, and there were waypoints for each hunting mission in there! Unfortunately, they were located 6500 m in the opposite direction and I didn't have much available time left to play (had to get ready for work).
So, I indentified a city that was about 2000 m away from those waypoints. (Oh yeah, and the two waypoints appeared to be right on top of each other!) I quickly made it back to town and hopped the next shuttle over there.
But, upon my arrival, my waypoints were gone! I ended up logging out there... until I have more time to play tomorrow morning.
So, once one accepts a hunting mission, HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSSED TO FIND THE BEASTIES ??
Thanks!

Ambitious,
That's the point of the Hunting missions. You've got to find 'em. Most of the time, it's trial and error. Those missions are designed to be long and hard, and they really on provide you an incentive if you are out Exploring. It's one of those things where you say - I'm going to go everywhere on NAboo today, so I'll grab two hunting missions and if I spot any of those critters, maybe I'll make myself some bucks.
One thing that people have been doing with moderate success (because it doesn't always work) is to try and find a hunting mission and a destroy mission. That way they guarantee they'll find at least some of the critters.
Hunting missions don't have waypoints. They just have a "bag number". You've got to kill X number of X creature- and be careful, they are very, very specific. If the mission is for Massive Gnorts, going out and killing regular gnorts won't credit on the mission.
If you are just popping in game for a quick couple of fights and some money, take a destroy mission. Hunting missions aren't what you want. If you want a little incentive to go explore the galaxy, they're for you.

I've been doing quite well combining Hunting and Destroy missions. The key is to only take Hunting missions for critters you know come up often in the Destroy missions you get. I take 45 critter hunts (which can get me as much as 11000 creds currently) and then take Destroy missions for that critter only. You'll get the credits for the Destroy mission and once you've killed 45 critters, a nice bonus payout
OK, I'm confused.
What mission terminals BESIDES Explorer / hunting give you Destroy missions where you go out to destroy animals ? You ARE talking about two different kinds of terminals, right ?
Oh yeah, and you can still only take two missions at a time, right ?
Ambitious:
Mission terminals give out destroy and delivery missions.
Explorer terminals give out hunting and exploration missions.
And yes, you can only get two at a time, no matter what kind they are.

I tried this this morning and it didn't appear to be working. I took a Destroy mission for bocats and a Hunting mission for 15 bocats. Followed the waypoint to the Destroy mission lair. Took out about 8 or so bocats. Destroy mission completed / no longer in datapad. Hunting mission's still there, but shows a score of "0", where I'm pretty sure it's suppossed to show how many you've killed so far.
Unfortunately it will always show zero. Follow Scott's advice and watch your combat spam. It should say something along the lines of "You have 4 more bocatt's to kill".
Ah, but I AM understanding him correctly, right?
Each kill is going to do "double duty" by counting towards BOTH missions, right?
Ambitious,
You don't need to kill the bocats for the destroy mission - just the lair.
So when you kill them, you'll get credit for both missions.
Watch the combat spam - it'll tell you how many are remaining to complete the mission after each kill.
