Hello,
I went to swgcreatures.com but found the lists a bit hard to sort. What I'm really after is just a brief explanation of
1) is a planet's fauna spawn random across the map or limited to certain planetary areas e.g. hills, very remote, easern half etc. E.g. do Talus Tortons spawn equally and randomly all over the map?
2) is there a general rule of thumb in terms of type of hide, leathery for example, which is best? If so, which are the best among each of the 3 harvestable parts i.e. best hide type (in general).
3) Looking for a list of planets, in order of easiest to toughest, for a scout to progress through in order to not only get weapon xp but also harvesting/trapping xp (and in so doing amass a good amount of animal parts). Right now I like Talus but it's getting a bit too easy. Dant. is too hard still for me to effectively solo.
I really appreciate any replies!

Okay, as far as hides, Wooly sells the best as it is used in Tailor and Armorsmith schematics. But the "popular" harvest right now are meats, especially avian meat for Docs and Chefs.
As far as terrain types, it varies, but overall creatures are just isolated as far as planet goes. However certain areas of planets spawn creatures more (like Greater Sludge Panthers on Talus).
Difficulty: This is a jab, but mine would be Correlia, Naboo, Tattooine, Talus, Rori, Dantooine, Lok, Yavin, Endor, and Dathomir. Whatever the order, most agree that Dathomir is the planet to avoid unless your pretty high level.

Harvesting -
You can always always sell hides. Not for a lot, but it's steady. Leather will always sell. Naboo scaley for boots. Tat wooly to tailors and armorsmiths, for that matter, any wooly with good stats to armorsmiths. Endor wooly to architects.
I try to avoid the flavor of the moment meats. Usually avian is a pain to harvest (Tat avian..rofl). Herbie is not bad, as long as it comes in large quantities.
Try Endor for a harder planet. I live on Talus and love it, despite the rains. Great hunting, decent harvests, few DBs. But every so often I go to Endor and harvest. Crazed Gurrecks, Bordoks, Gleaming Lantern Birds, Bluurgs. Yeah, Endor sucks for non-scouts, without maskscent you are a moving target as the entire planet is about 80% aggro. Crowded? How many times have I left Endor and closed the planet chat/auction as I was the only player there? Herbie meat and hides are in abundance. I can always sell meats at 10cpu. At 12k per mission, with over 1k per meat per mission set, thats 34k per mission set. It's not Dantooine, I don't buff to go, don't wear armor, but do use my droid. Yeah, once in a while I may get in over my head, that's why they made burstrun.
If you disarm at the mission terms you will still get level 40 missions, but they will be within 1.5k of the term mainly. I can do two mission sets, 12k per mission, in under 30 mins (75k creds, rough number after I sell the meat) and then go do other stuff. Pays for my house, my harvs, and general repairs.
Avoid the spiders. First time you don't, you will see why I said it.

I'd recommend you to "listen in" on your server's Galaxy Trade Forum. You will most certainly see what meats, hides, or bones crafters are looking for at the moment. When you find someone asking for something suitable for your level of expertise, you just head out and harvest!
This way you'll be able to live a decent life just hunting stuff you know you will be able to sell.

Guys, thank you for the replies! It reminded me, is there a listing somewhere of the cpu of various creature resources? I don't yet sell in massive quantities and usually am ansure how much I should be selling for.

Yeah, Endor is the least populated planet. I might see one or two other players maybe. I guess that's why I spend so much time on Endor heheh. It's a Ranger's dream: lots of flora and fauna and no civilization, and some parts are quite beautiful also. Just avoid the spiders as JB said. And Death Watch... they're a one-hit DB.

it fluctuates too much to really be put into a set guide (think of it kind of like the stock market).
When in doubt.....ask JB. he has plenty "rules of the thumb". (I haven't done much hide selling in the past few weeks)
