I know what you are gonna say- get a mission. Just for background info, I'm on Talus, which has approx. 12 people on it, and there are 0 people who I could join a group with because I'm fairly low ina ll my skills and would slow down a group, not aid it. Anyways, I have been getting missions on fearful vynock youths and paralopes, mainly to get the avian bone and the hide. But I advanced some of my combat trees and now all I get on the mission selection screen is chunker camps and pirate hideouts. If I unequip all weapons I can still get the vynock missions VERY cheap, but I can find them outside Nashal pretty easily anyways, so it's really teh paralope lairs I need help with. I have not found any other creature that I even have a chance of deafeating and yields good hide. I tried to attack one creature, a dog thing with long fangs, and it took thirty minutes,5 incaps, all my traps, and12 stimpack uses to get the measly 12 units of bristly hide, and still didn't get any money like I would with a mission. So... any tips? I am on Eclipse if that helps any, and currently have Novice Medic,Marksman 1-0-1-1, and scout 1-1-1-1, which I have chosen as my main profession until I can go on to ranger.

Quit dinking around with that marksman crap and pick one weapon and get higher in it. You are using too many weapons to get better in one quickly. It is your weapons qualifications that give you better missions. This is not a flame, this is cold hard fact. Unless you want to be a BH, disregard marksman and concentrate on one weapon. You get better missions quicker with concentrating on one weapon, and the ranged support tree does not count.
Finding Lairs. See if there are any player cities on Talus. There will be lairs on the most frequently traveled routes to and from the nearest starports to those cities. Failing that - run around outside of Dearic (it's flatter than the area around Nashal is why I say that) and force a few lairs to spawn.Rasps are easy to drop also. Fynocks too.
Less people is a good thing. The more people you have, the less random spawn. That's why I live on Talus and hunt on Endor.

Check-see if any of the folks on Talus (or anywhere else)have Helper titles. You may findthey'll be more than willing to run a few missions with you, honestly. So long as you don't go rampaging into lairs expecting them to save you all the time, which can be an excerise in frustration for them. You'll get better XP, better payouts, and maybe a new friend.

Well I just got a rifle, until then I was using a CDEF psitol to do everything. But I plan on becoming a Rifleman in supplement to Ranger hopefully.
Anyways, about the lairs. I went to Dearic just last night to check out the layers. They were there all right- yeah, along with pirates and delinquents and other such undesirables. I couldn't even stop to fight what I wanted to- every time I would be near a good lair I wanted to take out a red mob would aggro me from a ridiculous distance, sometimes even from out of radar range. Or, I would be runniing looking for lairs and a bunch of angry red mobs would spawn right in front of me. So yeah, Dearic is wonderful if you don't mind getting incapped every few minutes.
And about people on Talus- I have seen one person, and that's just because my house is nearby his. I have not seen anyone else, in the cties or in the wild. So yeah, I'm sure there's SOMEONE on Talus that would be willing to help me out, but the odds are small that I will ever even meet him.

I can't go into any of the major cities- my physical memory is only HALF the REQUIRED memory, but I do fine when I'm not in places like Theed or Coronet. I am getting a RAM expansion when I get my next paycheck. So yeah, going into Mos Eisly means about an hour of lag just to go from one end of the cityto the other.

if that is the case, then just find a good player city that you know no one frequents ALL the time. And stay away from coronet like the plague. lol

Double check your radar is set to a reasonable rate - 128m or higher. Yours sounds like it might be set much too low - around 32m.

I set it on 128 the second I stepped into the game- it just doesn't appear on the radar until I'm 60m or less from the creature. But then again, that could be blamed on my bad physical memory too.

and in your options there is a slider for the max visible range (something like that).
The lower it is, the less warning you have of things around you.

well you have to understand....talus is kind of "out of the way".
If you'd like to meet more people, go to one of the other starter planets.
Mos Eisley, Tatooine would be my first recommendation.
