Silly GI (yes, it shows) - or more likely Marine - (boot is jarheadese)
Hints, tips and tricks.
1. Huurtons are stupid. Get a droid, let them attack it. Not you. Half the time they aggro the droid, the other half, once the droid attacks, they leave me alone.
2. Check the resists, then pick a weapon. Acid works really well.
3. Dantooine sucks. It's overcrowded, smells bad, and the people there are poopy heads. Least on my server. Go somewhere nice, where the natives are not so plentiful and mean, like Endor. On second thought, the natives there are meaner, never mind.
4. Jawa beer? If you are buffed, brandy and more brandy. You can't lose there. Your maskscent will break, wear clothes to help reapply sooner.
5. P darts. Sharp bone spurs. Glow wire. Use anything else and you are wasting a throw. Pdart first. Glow wire second. Bone spur third. Not trapping, that is just plain dumb. Waste of a skill.
6. Consider finding someone with pistol skills to help. Nothing like pistolmeleedefense1 to knock a silly huurton senseless. And specials do more damage when the huurton is laying there.
Honestly tho - I was soloing these dumb doggies yesterday and laffing at them. Course, I was food buffed, no armor, had the right weapon, and was using a droid and traps. Hey, what can I say, the Jedi wanna be I was helping left and I know that Dant wool on my server is primo, so I got a couple/six missions for them.

There's nothing wrong with huurtons...if they're working for you, not against you.

meh-- I hunt huurtons buffed, no armor (TKM/Ranger) and I laugh at them all the while.
yeah, JB is cooler 'cause he don't need no doc buffs, but then again we can't all be JB.

Dantooine. Last time I was here I was a boot scout fresh out of noob school. Hell, my cdrom drive still smelled like burned SWG cd. Got my butt handed to me over and over by those pesky little huurtons.
So here I am, a 4333 novice scout and a guild buddy and I decide to go a huntin'. Planet of prefference? Why Dantooine of course, we want some picket meat. So we fly there, get a little buffed, eat some exo wafers and other cakes and wash it down with brandy and Jawa beer. I firgured out why Jawa beer helped maskscent so well , it's because after you drink it, you smell like bantha piss.
Anyways, I get my traps in order, build a couple of camps and stuff 'em in my ruck; grab two missions as my buddy grabs two and we head east. Always have good luck going east no matter what planet we're on. Well, the first mission went great, knocked out a lair of bols. My buddy fancies himself quite the swordsman so while he was spinnin' around sling blading, I was popping them off at 40 to 60 meters or so and loving it.
They THEY showed up. Maybe my maskscent was weak or something but they came out of the woodwork. And I was the closest one to 'em. So now we're fighting bols and huurtons. Took forever but we got it done. Then we move on to the pickets, same thing.
Huurtons everywhere, CRAP! Then after pitching a camp, drinking some more (it's a wonder scouts get any hunting doen with all the cam drinking) we stumble across two Graul Maulers swimming in a lake.
So we collect ourselves, I take some cover, get a good sight alignment, sight picture and BAM! Head shot, my buddy charges in and we take out two in a couple of minutes. Then we hit the lair. FOUR of 'em spawn. OH CRAP, MORE DOGS!!! What the hell is up with these dogs? Are they the guardians of all life on Dantooine or something?
To make the long fun story short, we ended up with twelve Graul pelts, eight picket hides and maybe twenty or so bits and pieces from those damn huurtons. Next tima I'm bringing a friggin stick, maybe they'll play with that vice my leg

Phenix - I will make you feel better
Rancors ate my butt last nite. Ok, it took 3, but they did it. I was beating on #1 when 2 more spawned literally on my head. Sigh.
And I maxed trapping XP(again) and needed to go to the village, the only reason I was on Dath to start with. My TK guildie tried to help, but we only dropped 2 before #3 got me. I never even noticed him there, til he ate my butt. Pretty sneaky for such big guys.
Oh well, all if fair in love and war. Next time, the droids are coming out.

Now it's G.I.-ese, I went to the dark side. Spent eight years as a Marine and eight out before I tried to get back in. The Corps was having a hard time finding places for retreads so I went Texas National Guard and OCS. I get commissioned in April then off to armor/scout school.
I have a shirt specifically made for my maskscent and have almost no down time as I can reapply it immediately after it wears off. The Jawa beer just helps it last a lot longer and I don't have to worry about it as much.
I'm not complaining about the huurtons mind you, it was just a funny little incident we kept running into. And I trap all the time, usually noise maker, followed by stink, followed by bone spur. I figured the others were too low to be effective. Might need to rethink that strategery.

I just picked up novice CH last night after a rancor hunt on Dath. I think I was more excited about taming those two bols than I was about killing rancor. Although I left that place with about 9k worth of ranc hide. Whoooohooo, KACHING!
I'm about 3k away from getting trapping IV and that adhesive mesh. I want a carrion spat next so I'll be looking for those spat missions on Corellia. And yes, I got my second four in scouts last night too, it was an awesome night. Now I'm 4343 and it was worth cloning twice because of those enraged rancor youth.

Yeah, I found me a nice one. Real cool green and yellow color. I named him Woodstock ;-)
I need to level up soon because I've already run out of space in my datapad and I love my pets. Have two bantha, one's a rare one given to me by a MCH and the other by a good friend. One's named Spud and the other Blue. Also have a Wrix named Hawkeye after the lasy of the Mohicans. And finally, Chalupa my Cu Pa.
