Go to Dath, take on rancors.

But if you win, it's a beautiful one. We went to Danth last weekend, four of from our guild. One swordsman, one brawler and two scout/riflemen. Did fairly well too.

Got all got more than a little beat up so I popped a camp and after sitting around drinking brandy, Ossiribi our wookie brawler gets bored and charges four enraged rancor youth and proceedes to beat the living hell out of all four of them.

The rest of us just sat back in awe, friggin hilarious!

And for a novice scout at the time, I pull an easy 3k plus stack of hide in about 30 minutes.

I agree with what the other people have been saying...Rancors or other fairly high level creatures are your best bet. Also, take your proffession into account. If you're a tka (and can only deal kinetic damage), find the creature with the lowest kinetic resist.

He brings up a good point. Enraged Rancors and Mutant Rancors are sucky for a TKM, due to high kinetic (take it from me). So I would reccomend seeking regular Rancors, as they will die much faster and are more efficient. This is what I have found.

Enraged Rancors have 30% kinetic resist, so do regular rancors. That's btw as low as it can get for kinetic resists of rancors, even rancor youth have more :-).

From my own experience, hunting focused on enraged rancors / enraged bull rancors gives myself the best harvest / time even though those two have the highest blast-resists (I'm a swordsman..) among all other rancors, the much higher harvest compared to regular or gnarled rancors easily makes up for the bit more time it takes to kill them :-). Judging from that experience it should be a lot better even for those who find the same resists for their damagetype .

Rancors are acid vulnerable; this is where my BH skills (scatter pistol) come in very handy. The TKs go in and tank and hit; my MBH buddy and I blast away with scatters.

Quite frankly, it's way too easy. Durnis put up about the same degree of fight, it seems.

Little generic rule of thumb: the higher the Creature Level , the more hide/meat/bone you get. Thus, Rancors are good because they are tough, but if youre buffed and armored, they shouldn't be too hard. Go to dath and kill EVERYTHING. Most things there are leathery hide. So whatever you kill, it's likely to be tough and likely to drop a hide that will stack.

I also find Dantooine can produce good amounts of material, but unlike Dath, there are more types of hide...whereas on Dath, like I said, pretty much EVERYTHING drops leathery hide, so you'll get a lot of it.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Yeah. If you know any Jedi in the final stages of their grind, they are probably interested in Rancors anyway. Offer to tag along with them and pick up the pieces. I've scored HUGE stacks of bone and hide for runs of equipment doing this.
