I found this in the SWG newsletter. Also posted on the Ranger forum.
AFK - unattended macroing This will be going away soon. There will be some issues around losing the ability to do things with recursive macros or while AFK, which need to be addresses as part of this effort, but overall it is better for the game environment to not have this as a sanctioned behavior.

This was mentioned months ago. As a matter of fact it was due to happen about when the 6 month accounts would be deleted, and when email older then 6 months would be deleted. Neither has happened yet.

Ah, poor Julak you weren't around for when there were real entertainers and quite a few people (myself included) would spend up to an hour just talking, joking, and bragging in the cantina. Those were the days... may they come again some day.

Im with you there. I miss those days and want to see that social aspect of the game return. When i was in beta all i wanted to be was a bartender in this game behind the counter of a cantina. It was fun then but anymore its just not the same.

macors make things easy yes, but I agree, the social aspect of this game could be ALOT better... to be honest with you, when I go into coronet cantina to get BF healed, I wont even consider an AFK entertainer.. I let one who is actually there heal me, and they get the tip as well.. if they wanna earn tips from me, they have to be there. What really sux about this game is when you land in a starport, and theres 40 PPL all spamming the hell out of the town square, but only 3 of them are actually playing the game...

Always did strike me as odd that people could master a profession while they were asleep... but I don't think ti will happen. People would start complaining that they actually had to sit their and press hotkeys to floruish, and then SOE would, in the interest of keeping up costumer satisfaction- (even though the small number of people for AFK macroing are probably nothing compared to the amount of people that would like to see it go away)- resanction it. At least that is my guess.
But the cantinas seem fine to me, at least at late night,w hich is usually the only time I can play. Just the other day we had about ten people in teh Theed cantina carrying on, and quite a few odd characters, including one zabrak who insisted on licking all the AFK dancers and humping their legs... but other than that it was actually pretty cool. I stayed in the cantina well after all my fatigue was healed.

The only reason I use these sort of macros is to keep one toon "alive" while I'm actively manipulating another. For example, my master doc/master CM toon will sit around somewhere in town in a macro loop, on call incase a guildie gets DBd by a gnort or something, instantly able to run to the rescue and save the day, while the bigshot MCH/BH/TK guy is out harrassing swoopers or harvesting huurtons.
