Thread: We need more scripted/random events!
Well, I need more anyway. When I first heard a developer describea POI, I was in hog heaven. Unforturnately, like most things in life, the real thing was no where close to my imagination. I also realize that they had to cut back ona lot of POI ideas in order to get the game to the market.
Still, I wanna see more stuff happen, especially scripted stuff, as I'm running around doing standard stuff. For example, I skin thousands upon thousands of animals. It would be cool if occasionally I found a ring or jewel in the belly of a particularly nasty beast. Or while foraging I happen across a blaster that someone dropped.
This could apply to all mundane activities, across the entire class board. Artisans could occasionally hit a buried treasure store (there are several treasures maps in the world after all). A squad leader could have an exceptionally inspirational day and all his bonuses are doubled that day.
Scripted events would be way cooler though. Say I'm wandering around in the wilderness when all of a sudden a ship comes crashing to the ground just ahead of me. When I go to investigate it, I find that a couple of smugglers have been shot out of the sky by some imperials and that they are on the run. At this point, I'd have a choice to help them, ignore them or turn them in. They may even pay me to let them go.
Another event my be meteors crashing to the ground, creating a huge crater. For one day after a meteor crash, a surveyor can extract one ultra rare resource.
This kind of stuff, which I'm confident they will eventually add, would add a lot to the overall experience. The last point to make is that these events need to happen fairly often. Just some more random, useless thoughts. ![]()
I just hope that I'm not at ground zero when one of those meteors hits. It would be embarrassing to be incapped that way.

Really? I thought Emperor Retreat, Jabba Palace, etc were POI's. Well if those random scripted events are the POI's, then they are VERY rare, because I have played this game since day 1(day 2
have spent most of that time outside of the city, and have not encountered one.
How do you know if you encounter a POI or just another random spawn of slave camp, Imp camp, Rebl camp, lair? And what's with those missions, that if you abort it, some music plays. That really freaked me out. Disappointed that the mission might have been something FSCS related.
Oh well.
I agree, these kind of random scripted events are really great and add the variety to the game day after day. One item i think would be great is adding random water events like large fish or sea creatures attacking swimmers (etc.).... Sando Aqua Sea Monster anyone?

Points of Interest, such as Jabba's Palace etc.

Actually, and I don't want to sound technical here, places like Jabba's Palace and the Emperor's Retreat aren't "Places of Interest". These are "Theme Parks".
POIs are spawns that occur randomly that have a script to them, like the slave girl running from the Stormtroopers. They are rare, and typically give you a badge for successful completion.
