Thread: Scout should be able to craft their own armour !
This might have already been mentioned but what would the best armour be for a Scout or Ranger ?
I got rid of Bone armour and switched to Mabari (all I can afford atm) and noticed a big difference. The action bar last much longer. BUt what about Chitin ? Or Ubese ? I prefer the look of Ubese myself.
Also, since we live in the bush shouldn't we be able to craft our own armour ? It should be something light made of animal skin perhaps. Might go with the camo skill.
Well here my 2 cents. What do you think ?
Oh no, Memdaynar must have OD on that pixie spice. Quick, we need Delta or someone else who can talk him down!
LOL, I think it's a decent idea, but will likely never happen. Only because that would take away from the crafters, and thus make scouts no longer dependant on one more profession. The crafting system is something I'm especially impressed with in this game. Even though I dont have aritsan.
The way they made this game with crafting, makes the players crafting actually needed, and the items they create can only be bought from them, and not any NPC. First time a MMO has done that I believe.
Scouts are pretty self sufficient. If they could just give us some survival, or even scout xp for crafting our camps and traps, that would be a big improvment. And yes, Delta has spoken to them about this.
Scouts can actually craft their own armor - they can take up artisan, then armorsmith, pretty much the same as anyone else
. With traps and camps currently (and I hope it's just currently...) giving general artisan XP, it's trivial for a scout to go up the engineering tree, to at least make some bone. Going down armorsmith probably wouldn't be that much more of a stretch.
I think people really need to get out of the 'my class needs to be able to' mentality. This is essentially a classless game. The only thing class really defines is your starting attributes (which *can* be modified after creation), and starting gear. If you want to be an armorcrafting scout, there's absolutely nothing to stop you, except the maximum number of skill points.

Yeah, I'm a Master Scout with full Engineering tier, full carbine tier, 3 levels of Surveying, and a touch of medic.
I may never master an elite profession because I like to be able to do everything myself.
I do have to rely on someone else for a decent gun and armor (if I wear it) but it is few and far btw.
I did just buy a droid but now that I think about it droids kind of don't fit with the whole scout idea.
Squid already beat me to some of my points, but I'll add a few on:
1.) Read my guide.
2.) Mabari is the best right now, unless you can find a higher level set that has similiar or higher kinetic energy absorption rates. The thing with armor in this game is that the different types really don't give you any major bonuses by simply being different. A crappy set of Padded Armor isn't as good as a very well made set of Chitin. Just because padded is "better" doesn't mean that it is more "effective". Does that make sense?
3.) For the most part, forget about armor anyway. Have some for PvP and dealing with humanoid NPCs, but for scouting, just wear soimething that you like.
And Squids right - the artisans would go nuts.

Whoa ! What have I done ? hehe
I did read your Guide. That's what made decide to become a Scout. Just not sure how armour works and trying different tyoes can be expensive.
Oh and about the Scout armour I didn"t mean a whole set hehe. I gladly leave that to artisans. I was thinking more of something like a duster, a camo cloak or something like that, that would go with the camo skill or perhaps improve it.
I bed the bride-to-be would dig that. I'll go for that one.
B
Delta. I hope you will bed the bride to be.
