Thread: I wasn't lying! The update is coming tomorrow or Wednesday!

I hope you all have seen this already - but I'll repost it in its entirety here for ya'll:

On Tuesday or Wednesday, we will be pushing the code from Test Center to the Live Galaxies. We are very excited about getting all of the changes listed on the InTestingpage out there. There are a ton of fixes and new content/features for you to have fun with.


Now for the word of warning - this is the largest update we've done since release. We have been testing this on Test Center for several weeks now, but when it gets pushed to the live servers there is always the possibility for some problems and frustrations. Our past has taught us that when we do big publishes, over 95% of the stuff works great, but that still means that 5% gets broken. Have patience with us on update day and we will monitor the forums and bug reports closely so we can quickly jump on any problems you find.


"But isn't it SOE's job to test it first?" - Yes, and we have two testing teams working on it, plus an excellent group of players on Test Center. But a couple hundred thousand of you will quickly find things that they couldn't just as a matter of scale.

I hope that everyone can get out and try aout all of the new things in this patch as quickly as possible.


We can also now look forward to the information you've all been waiting for on the upcoming Scout changes that we've been talking about for a month.

Sir,


Just because they aren't included in the update doens't mean they aren't on the drawing board. Tomorrow's update isn't going to be the only one, and its not a magic salve to cure all of our wounds. It's a bandage and some sulfa powder. We'll get more later.


Oh - and scratch the "or Wednesday" part of my title. Q's latest post makes it pretty clear:


"Remember, if you have the time and inclination, it would help if you jump on Test Center today to load test the new changes before they go live tomorrow. " (Emphasis added)


We'll see them tomorrow!

Great! Thanks for the update. You have kept up with your tradition of letting us know as soon as you do. I shall make it a point to run around in the wild and try the new "fixes" for our profession. Looking forward to it.

On two of them it does, because they are giving "creature loot" & "search lair" toALL characters and because removing it latter is a Nerf and they have said that they never will do a Nerf unless they have no other options to fix a major problem.


If you don't beleave me go ahead and ask the dev

I don't get your point.


Both of those things are good things for Scouts. They're good for everyone. Why should we be the only ones able to search lairs?


And what makes you think they'll remove it later? Why is that a nerf?


I don't get it.

Even better. The Scout dev himself will be posting them. I don't know if it will be tomorrow - gotta give time for the update to sink in...there's a lot in there. But it will be shortly after this update.

TOO BAD I guess that means these Rangers issues will not addressed







From patch notes:

- Added special loot items for a number of creature types. These items can only be found on specific creatures. Many of these items are components which can be used in the crafting process. Start looking.
- Added exceptional and legendary item/component drops. These items are very rare and are found only on high level creatures.

In addition loot in lairs, etc:

- Creature lairs now have a "Search Lair" option. This option may only be used once per lair.
- Searching a creature lair may now yield egg resources or animal samples. The eggs can be used for food crafting
- Animal samples may be used in animal particle effects generator craftable by an artisan with Engineering I.







Creature Loot needs to gotten by /harveting loot, not any non-ranger or even non-scout


/Search Lair needs to be a command that only rangers get at Frontiering I.


And they STILL need to fix /forage to get rare items........

So does this basically mean that the scout changes will NOT be going into effect with the big patch? If not, that's kind of lame.

Guys,


All of the changes that are listed for Scouts on the In Dev page will be implemented.


All of the OTHER things that I've hinted about, like fishing granting XP, etc. will be discussed in the post from the Scout dev.


Patience, children! We're getting a lot this morning. Eat too much too quickly and we'll all get indigestion.

Wrong again! - Q updated the ETA on the big patch:

"It looks like the update will be on Wednesday."

The **edit** CHs get another 24 hour reprieve from the governor.
