It used to work like a charm. Now, everytime I try, when I get back to the machine I'm back at desktop and only one camp has been used.

Anyone else?

when was the last time you sucessfuly used it? when I tried having one alias call another it I bump in to some type of /alias recursive block they added.

currently it will halt an /alias calling an /alias after one or two itterations.

It requires a bit more typing (cut and pasting) but just put the full text instead of the call to a sub /alias.

I ran that macro last Friday night and left it when I went to bed. I turned off auto afk too. When I got up in morning I was out of the game, but it did go through 4 camps. That is a long time really. Remember 2 things. It is a long long time for the game to "auto" disband a camp. It's long after you have gained full xp on it. I know, I have watched this(while doing housework). Second thing to remember is that after a long while of being inactive, apparantly even with auto afk off, the game kicks you out. Which it should.

Not sure why you'res only ran 1 camp. I used the Dakamf macro, minuse the survey stuff. I only had in it the /ui commands and the /pause commands with 12 seconds. Then at end a /ui command running the macro again.

I did it yesterday while I was at work. It worked like a charm. I only needed it to power through Survival IV, so I won't be using it anymore. They haven't patched, so it should still be working.

I modified the macro by putting /forage in there. Needless to say, I had a crapload of foraged stuff in my inventory.

I also readon the Tech Suport forum thatif you are 'inactive' too long then you will be dumped from the server. Not sure if this will have an affect on a camp macro or not.

What's the point of being a Scout if you're going to set up a macro and leave the computer in order to receive XP for Wilderness Survival? This is not how the devs designed camping to be. Camping is supposed to be a survival tactic WHILE hunting. I see people all the time just outside towns and our guild hall 'camping' and yelling for people to come visit so they reach faster XP, and they'll do it for hours creating camp after camp.

Everyone is so darn impatiant about having themselves an 'Uber' toon as soon as possible. And then what? What will they do to keep them enjoying the game?

Jedi,

You've summed up 95% of my arguments in one post. Good job.

I'm not a big fan of macros, but for some players it does make the game more enjoyable - so more power to them.

Yay/nay macro arguments aside and back to the original question, my sampling and camping macros seem to be workig fine after the patch.

I would not feel compeled to Macro camps if survival skills were gained at the same "rate" as other skills in the scouting/ranger tree. Scouting and Trapping XP are so easy to make, compared to survival XP. It is more pronounced in the Ranger Profession. Many Rangers easily top out Hunting, Explore, and Trapping long before getting even Fronteering II.

Camping requires some type of "grinding" to keep up with the other skills. The faster XP gain helps a bit, but still survival XP is gained by do nothing. There are very few things you can do in a camp while you wait. You can Sample or do some dancing/playing.

Gustav,

Actually - the new changes have made camping XP for me significantly easier.

I had a group out on a Fambaa hunt, and I was getting the full amount (1220-1260) after 5-8 minutes with my Field Base camps.

It appears to me that the lower level camps have had their caps reduced, but they gain XP faster. I think this is a fairly legitimate compromise to get the camp XP rates fixed.

I have not played much since the patch. I had resources to chaseand had to hedge my pets. However, I did notice that the Field base did give out over 1k XP after about 25 minutes. this was by myself and doing some sampling. So it seems better.

In the end this realy does not change much for me. I am less then 20k from Master Ranger and I am still within a "easy" strech to get there by this weekend. I am not sure if Master Ranger is going to be going to be easier for others now.
