I'm a new scout,I have trapping one in the scout line. I made a bunch of glow juice traps, donned my 72% kinetic armor, got doctor buffs and flew off to dantooine to get xp from throwing traps at pickets.

The good news is that my plan half worked.I could stand there all day in combat with the picket (gun unequipped) and never die (at least till the buffs wore off). The bad news is not one trap landed

Is this due to my low level trapping skill? If so, when will i be able to trap higher level creatures like these pickets (lvl 30 i believe).

And if so, what can i trap in the meantime to get better xp than the 50 i get off corellian butterflies?

I'm at trapping 2 and tried pickets, 10 traps in a row missed, so I assume that I'm too low as well and moved on. Squills give about 200-250 trapping xp and some good scouting xp as well, althoughI was kind of annoyed that you aren't allowed to throw traps in the squill cave, lol I would have finished trapping 2 days ago.

I guess I'll have to pull missions for them unless anyone has any other creatures that give more xp than squills @ trapping 2.

Yes, they are too high a CL for a starting scout to have much luck.

Since you are decked out, you might try humbabas on Corellia if you can find some. If you can get the traps to land, they should be decent xp at your skill level. Giant Dalyrakes and Matriarchs are similar in CL, plus you can sell the insect meat.

Once you find a creature that gives you a good return on hitting and xp, you might look at the SWG Creatures site and search for others of a similar CL.
