Thread: Trapping... A pain?
Exec,
Make a macro, and just make this part of your normal hunting routine. Lob a few traps, then kill the thing.
You'll get through it in no time.

I had the same problem with trapping... everything above a gnort resisted my lvl 1 and 2 traps...
but I just got comfortable on tatooine with a backpack full of traps and when kreetle hunting... (I have mastered scout so many times on so many char.s on so many servers... only takes determination and time...)
Exec,
You've got to realize that while you're a master marksman, your scouting skills ain't that L33T. ![]()
Use the macro on the lower level critters, til you get to Trapping 3 and 4. Then move up.

I smell a BH wanna be.
And they want people traps?
Can't even figure out mouse traps.
Well, guess we gotta have a profession like BH, keeps the kids happy and readily identifiable. I pity the poorholo BHs, they have soooo much to put up with.

Delta's right I suggest heading to Doaba Guerfel and grabbing Rogue Bagaraset missions, lob Wire Mesh at them and each one will give up between 565 trapping xp or as much as over a thousand for each one. That's how I got Master Scout anyway. It's all about finding the right prey.
I created this macro
/ui action toolbarPane02;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/ui action toolbarSlot01;
/ui action toolbarSlot02;
/ui action toolbarSlot03;
/ui action toolbarSlot04;
/ui action toolbarSlot05;
/ui action toolbarSlot06;
/ui action toolbarSlot07;
/ui action toolbarPane00;
This will toss 8 traps at the target. By the time it takes to through the last trap, the first has worn off and you can apply it again. Carry some Stim-Bs with you and apply a stim in-between each time you activate the macro. Wear good kinetic resist (I use 80% ) body armor as well.
Exec,
What Delta said. You're going to have to adjust to the fact that you're a n00b again
and select your prey accordingly!
Rills, womprats, and worrts are all good for getting your initial trapping XP in the bag. As you move up the tree,you get cooler and more powerful traps (my fave: the glow wire trap...great on sharnaffs and similar CL 30 level beasties...gives bonuses to melee and ranged combat!) that are effective against the sort of PvE content you're a lot more used to.
And to reiterate Deltas point. The higher up the trapping line you go the easier it is to get XP as you will be able to stick traps to higher level animals and get the higher XP per. Ancient Bull Rancors give 2K xp per trap while Giant Sand Beetles were giving i think it was 700 per trap. That was only with Ranger trapping box 2 for the Beetle and 3 for the Rancor. Not every trap stuck every time, and some individual animals they just won't stick on no matter what level you are, although his brother will have every one of the traps stick.
Start out small with the low level critters and move up the ladder just like you do with a weapon skill. You can't expect to kill a Scyk with a CDEF, so why should a trap you throw land just right on a creature that is above your trapping level?
Good luck, and learn which ones work best in different areas. You might find yourself using them more and more when hunting.
For trapping you can get trapping 1 - 4 in about 1hr here's how =D
make about 50 sets of wire mesh traps (these stack on enemies_
2. Get a doctor buff and put some armor on now find a tuskcat and pull him away from the group and start throwing traps each trap lands for 175 and you can stack them all w00t
