Has anyone else noticed they get "there has been a critical failure in assempling this" message when making traps? I sure have. I make a lot of traps, because I use them all the time. I used to amost never get this when crafting traps and camps. Now I can understand if they upped this chance a little since we now get xp for crafting traps, but with the increase in resource ingredients, it's a bit much. I got three in a row on a glow-wire trap. not even a ranger trap.

Do we know what the skill is that is used when making traps and camps? They must be using something if there is a chance of failure, because you need to code a mathmatic formula for that.

Squid,

I honestly think that it is random.

It's always been there - I've gotten it on camps and traps, and I got it when I had artisan skills and when I didn't.

For some reason I think it just comes and goes in spurts. I'll have a long stretch of never having a critical failure, and then I'll have four in a row.

I'll add it to my list of questions to ask the Scout dev when I talk to him again.

I haven't noticed a difference. My failure rate seems to be about the same as it was in the past.

Cool. There is a good post on crafting in general on the Ranger forum. It answered some question I have always had. And from that it seems I should go buy a better personal, general crafting tool. I'm still using the noobie scout one I got. I didn't even know they had better crafted ones.

Material quality also affects the chance of failures... If you're using particularly shoddy stuff, you're going to have more of a problem.
