Thread: Is this normal for hunting missions
I know I asked a similar question a while back, but I didn't get the response I was looking for. So, I'll ask it a different way. I've only been playing SWG for about three weeks, so some things are still new to me. I've only accepted three or four hunting missions and almost all of them have been a real pain. For instance, last week I accepted a mission to hunt 45 pudgy nudfuh (I know, I know, but the pay was good). Previous to this I had seen them all over the swamp north of Narmle. After accepting the mission I had to run all the way to the northern edge or Rori, & I do mean all the way, plus a few clicks east before finding any. And then they disappeared after about ten kills. this week I took a hunting mission for Vrobalet, also previously seen in the swamp. They too were impossible to find after accepting the hunt. I had to camp outside of Narmle in one spot & wait for them, plus three other random creatures, to spawn. Took me about two, three hours to get my 30 kills. I just want to know, is it me or is it the hunting missions? I don't have this problem when I accept hunting missions for low level creatures, but they don't pay as much. And I've already seen the hint about getting destroy missions for the same type of creature, but this doesn't work either as I can never find the same creatures for the two missions, trust me I've tried, every time. The high paying creatures for hunting missions don't show up for destroy missions.
Just curious,

I think this is more or less intended and it's the reason why the rewards for hunting missions are rather high.Basically, hunting missionsdepend on what's already "out there", so one day you might tripping over pudgynuhfuds and the nextday you'll have to trek all over to kill enough. The dynamic creature spawns (especially for creatures without layers) adds variablility to theactual dfficultyof mission. This variability allows the devs to keep the reward high relative to destroy missions of the same difficulty level. Very rarely will players be able to finish off hunting missions in quick succession, this means that the rate of credits flowing into the game probably going to be about the same as, if not less than, doing destroy missions during that same time period. To sum it up; hunting missions have higher payoff but usually take longer, conversely destroy missions are usually quicker and easier(especially if grouped) but you get less per mission. It gives you some variety. Ifyou want to make some extra money why you are doing scout activities (hunting for resources, wandering around, etc...) hunting missions allow that.If you want to make money as quickly as possible dodestroy missions.
I figured as much, just wanted to me sure.
Thanks

Until area track actually /works/ this is the only reliable way to find 30 or 45 critters in a short enough time to make the hunt missions worthwhile. Oh, and make sure you pick two hunt missions for the same creature type.
I've done the /waypoint thingbefore & still had them warp & disappear on me. That may be intentional, I don't know. I also discovered the two lairs trick, quite be accident. I just happened to find two nudfuh lairs close enough to run back and forth between, just two hills away. I guess as far as hunting missions go, it really is a grind. ![]()

I'm sure the Devs didn't want hunting missions to be impossible, justhardenough to discourage the amount of "grinding"people do withhunting missions. I remember when you could get over 1500 credits for killing a single paralope lair.It was great while it lasted, but the only why to balance easy money like that is with sinks, and probably expensive sinks at that.
Err, that second "hunting mission" should read "destroy mission". I guess I just should't post in the mornings....
I've had success with 3 hunting missions in the past 4 or 5 days. The first two were mite missions - dung mites and decay mites. I have a heavy moisture vaporator 5km out of Dearic - the run there and back provided several lairs and I was able to complete both missions in several hours of hunting. The other one was a jungle fynock mission that I took out of Nashal. I was able to take destroy missions for jungle fynocks at 1600 credits each, and they were only about 1000m out. No lair farming necessary, and I finished that one in roughly an hour and fifteen minutes. Good cash flow as well, as I believe I took in about 20k total for that mission set (not to mention quite a lot of hide).
I like the hunting missions if they aren't for some really awful creature. I mean really, where am I going to find 45 hermit spider queens? I'd like to actually FINISH the mission so I can move on to something else ![]()
