Thread: Sampled lair items....

OK, not sure how long these have been in game, but the 'sampled' items that can be obtained from some lairs...what are these for?

I would presume that BE's could use these, but there only seems to be 4-5 variations, i.e. flies, bats, etc.

Anyoen know exactly what these are for or if they are worth even keeping around?

Uhr,

They're useless right now. Just chuck 'em.

No, not useless at all!

Anyone with engineering II can use the creature samples to create a "Creature Habitat", which has the same graphic as a locked container (a capsule thingy). It has only one function right now, which is to release the critters into the wild, resulting in a short animated cloud of creatures fluttering about.

How is this useful you are asking? Well, for you it isn't... But for an entertainer (esspecially a Dancer) the little clouds of butterflys and glowzees are REALLY cool. I typically release a cloud of butterfliesinside a popular canteena (like Theed for example) and I am FLOODED with tells from dancers and musicians asking me how I did that! I will sell a habitat for a modest fee, and have about a dozen or so dancers that email me constantly for more.

Don't discount the use of something just because you (scouts) cannot use it.

Djen,

I stand corrected.

But hey - this is the Scout forum, after all.

The creature habitats are kinda fun - but useless. The do give crafting points though.

I noticed that if you examine a Sample of Live Whatever from a lair, the description mentions that an Artisan might find a way to display them. I'm almost Master Artisan now and still haven't found a use for them aside from cluttering up my house.

Tried it last night and was able to find the option to make them. Overall, the bats and bees were pretty amusing, but not sure if it's worth the material cost.

However, I got a ton of questions and offers to buy them off of me, so at least I now have something else to resellto fund my expeditions.

And don't forget that your friendly neighborhood chef or BE can use the eggs.

Related question: has anyone else noticed patterns with the finding of these things? For example, certain lairs seem to always offer eggs, others, butterflies, others, glowzees?

To be honest, I haven't really noticed a pattern. I braved Endor and Lok trying to see if any 'super-mobs' had better lair items, but doesn't appear so. You can get the same items from a durni warren as you do from any other nest it seems.

Djen,

Do you need a special crafting unit to make these things? I have several samples but using my generic crafting tool I don't see any option to make anything with them.

I have engineering IV, so I should be able to, no?

Thanks in advance -
