Thread: How do I improve the quality of the resources I am gathering?

My experience is that once I gather one type of hide on a planet all future loots of that type of hide are the same. Is there a way I can find higher quality resources?

Go to a different planet.

  • In general, each planet has only onequality of resource in each category (Hide / Meat / Bone).

The resource will eventually shift, just like minerals do...

  • But for immediate results, a different planet is your best bet.

Khaz,

And long term, the best thing to do is simply wait. The resources will shift, and you'll be able to get better materials.

You are much more patient than I, DeltaXi65.

In general any resource will shiftwithin 1 to 3 weeks...

  • If the resource is highly harvested then the resource will shift faster.

NRaas,

I'm a politician. If something gets done faster than 6 months, it's like hyperspace out here.

I suspect this is a rumor. I've seen heavily mined/harvested resources stick around for the maximum length of time (approximately 10 days for inorganics, approximately 22 days for organics), and I've seen resources that had little (if any) mining/harvesting being done on 'em disappear in the minimum length of time (5 days for inorganics, 7 days for organics).

Aye.

When the resource is added to the system, it is given a randomly created timeframe for it to last.

  • But on top of that, many people seem to believe that harvesting does have some impact on that timeframe... Whether this is true or not is quite contentious.

Ah, the mysteries of life in a game.

There are people in EQ who continue to believe that their chance for crafting success is improved by having the relevant Recipe Book equipped in their primary hand. This despite numerous statements to the contrary by the EQ Devs.

Ah, nice to see that superstition continues to thrive in our society...

  • Even in the face of blatantly contradictoryfact.
