Thread: Priceing meat
You can only sell for what the market can bear. The factor you look for in meat is flavor. Higher the flavor, the better the quality. I've been selling meat for 7.5-10 CPU. Only a few times has an item not sold. I keep the quantities relatively low as well, usually stacks of 250 units.
Head over to the Chef forum and ask what is the best way to supply them with meat.
It's unfortunate really. If that meat you have were avian or herbivore meat you'd easily be getting 20cpu for it. Because it's carnivore meat it's harder to sell at higher cost (at least from my experience.) I'm thinking somewhere between 10- 15 cpu is the highest you'll get. But it may take a little work to sell it.
Put a post up on your servers message board. Just post that you have 3k high quality carnivore meat. I think it's most used by Chefs. The FL, PE, and OQ are going to be the big selling points on it.
Things might be different on your server (these have been my observations from Wanderhome), and as another poster states it's really based on the market you're selling to. Just open it up for bidding on your Server board and someone should jump in. If they don't, save it for a rainy day.

i use this formula to decide most of my meat prices, but sometimes i just sell it for more cause ppl are willing to pay:
OQ/100+(PE-50)/200
that usually gives good meat prices for medics and such, but i haven't come up with a formula for selling stuff to people who need flavor too.
If you want to sell to docs, look for high Overall Quality and high Potential Energy.

Bio-Engineers and Chefs can both use Avian Meat and Herbivore Meat, but Doctors will be your primary market for these two types.
For Carnivore Meat, your primary market will be Bio-Engineers. BE schematics depend on Flavor, Potential Energy, and Overall Quality in equal amounts. So to tell how good the meat is that you have, add up these three stats and divide by 3.
For the meat you have, that would give:
(877 + 905 + 935)/3 = 905.7
That's exceptionally high quality meat, there.
With the pricing formulas I use, which work on a sliding price scale according to weighted averages like this, I would charge 21.7 cpu for that meat.
