I mentioned this elsewhere, but thought I would see what folks thought around here.

Does anyone else find it odd that you get XP towards Exploration from harvesting resources, but not from actually exploring.

With all the interesting places to go and all the overland travel opportunities in this game, it seems like there could have been some kind of system for earning Exploration-specific XP by travelling through the wilderness and... actually exploring.

Just a crazy thought.

Fairly common complaint that Scouts get "Scout Experience" for being a common hunter rather than the explorer they're claimed to be.

Can someone tell me what the min time you have to stay in a camp to get xp is,how long will the camp stay up, and how does the xp gain work.

Peter,

First, exploration XP is gained from hunting - if you want info on camps, you're looking for Wilderness Survival XP.

You need to stay in the camp a minimum of 30 seconds (based on my experience) in order to get some XP. Camps will automatically disband after 55 minutes.

XP is gained based on the time that you stay in the camp. The rate the XP is gained is modified by a number of factors including the number of people in the camp, how much healing is taking place (the more you need the camp, the faster the XP), and a number of other similiar factors.

Generally if you stay in your camp for 15 minutes you'll get max XP (350 for basic camps IIRC).

A dirty trick I learned when getting Survival XP...I don't know if this has been "fixed" yet...but...

I discovered one day that your XP will increase quicker if someone visits your camp. A CH stopped in my camp as I was healing, called a rancor, then resumed running. He was only in the camp for a few seconds but because he had registered as a second visitor my XP went up.

Sooooo....every time I'd set up a camp to heal myself I made sure to run in and out of my camp 10 times before sitting down to heal. Checking the camp data pad it would show 10 visitors. After healing for a few minutes and disbanding I got the full 350 XP without having to wait as long.

However...this was 3 months ago so if that trick doesn't work now its because its been "fixed". Its worth a try tho.
