dude, if we tell ya how to gain xp fast, then Q and the rest of the Dev Thought Police will come and nerf us again!

I just make the cheapest (organic cost) traps and use multiple traps per target to get the best/most xp out of each kill but don't tell no one I said so!

When you start out you can only make 2 traps so...

That said, I stick mostly to the mid-level(trapping 2-3) traps. That way I don't have to go looking for metal.

As for working your way up the tree, Harvesting corpses will get you up the Exploration & Hunting branches. Trapping get you up that branch, & making & usingcamps get you up survival.

Ok how does the Harvesting XP work? Do high level mobs give you more XP if you harvest them?

Yes, the bigger the critter, the more exp you get from Harvesting them.

Gnorts and Chuba's seem to cap at 40 exp for harvesting them. The Kaadu's and Fanned Rawl's give me 80 to 117 from time to time. So I am sure if I could drop a Veemok the exp would be significantly higher.

i got my trap level up to 4 yesterday very easilly. Go to LOK and find a pack of Snorbels. Get like 4 different types of traps ready to go on your F keys. Find the Elder Snorbel, and position yourself so that there is no snorbel between u and him so you can run.

Start hurling your traps at him and run like mad. HE will catch up to u before you finish throwing your traps. Thats no big deal. I have been able to outrun him without burstrun in a lot of occassions. The one problem with tryin this is the Mature Snorbel will kill you if they can so you should burst from them if they come at you whle attacking the Elder.

All in all you get over 500xp per trap so if you hit him with all 4 then you get 2k xp per try. ITs very risky because they can kill you, but as long as u can run then your ok.

Different traps have different effects. Use a trap that helps you in your current situation. For example, the bone spur traps affect the critter's attack. If a critter's too rough for ya, toss a bone spur. The spur also gives them a pretty heft mind wound - if you're a rifleman, this can really come in handy. Use headshots until they charge, then toss a spur.

Some of the mid-level traps have multiple effects - like lowering defense against both melee and ranged attacks. Use these if you're in a group. Generally speaking though, I stick with the low-level traps. One or two I'll use in every fight, while there will be 2 or 3 others in reserve for different situations.
