Thread: Novice Scout Seeks Advice
Sorry.. this cursed message board posted twice prematurely.
Do you guys have any tips for a brand new scout/marksman? I'm not really sure what I should be doing for xp
thanks,

Shoot it, harvest it, throw it in a stack . . . when ever possible, throw traps. Rinse and repeat . . . repeatedly. ![]()
What more would you like to know ?
Welcome to the club!! My first recommendation for new scouts is to pick up Novice Artisan and Novice Medic. These are essential to making full use of your camps (the only way right now to get Survival XP).
Before you set up camp, use Survey from your Artisan skills to find a resource to sample...go the the highest concentration you can find, then set up camp. Now sample away....then when you're done sampling, /tenddamage yourself all you want. Using the Action and Mind pools, then allowing them to recharge (or be healed) increases the XP from your camp.
Very handy...aside from that -- explore, hunt, survive. That's what we all do out there.
Before hunting make about 2-3 different types of traps, make more as you're able to, now go out hunting. Upon hunting throw AT LEAST one of each trap at the creature (NOTE: some traps you can throw at creatures more than once to get xp). That will help you on the trapping xp. Harvest EVERYTHING! You have to be polite about it when in a group, but solo or if your the only scout in your group, harvest anything and everything you can. When camping setup camps and do stuff (build more traps, build another camp, survey, etc...) and also try to get as many people as possible into your camp. What I used to do was I would look around as I was camping, if someone ran past I would hail them and start a conversation with them. More often than not they would talk for a few minutes and stick around in camp. This makes the camp time much shorter. With 3-4 people in camp your survival xp will peak in about 7 minutes, otherwise it takes about 15.
That just about covers all aspects. I hope that helps.
Aolshock,
My advice is to go read my game guide - "From Novice to Master - How to Become a Master Scout". It's in the game guides section or in here!

Buy a round trip ticket to Yavin IV(make sure it's round trip and don't get stuck there).
find some Mawax(something like that...look like Carions).
find some Anglers.
train the anglers into the Mawax nest.
Watch them fight and take bets with a buddy.
throw some traps at the creature you think will lose and get 250-500xp per trap.
get off a couple of body shots and the hides/meat are yours(bout 80 or so per creature).
don't throw traps at the winner, because cause whose hides are next in line if you do. ![]()
Here's some advice, don't make friends or well... don't have other scouts as group mates. Find a balanced group where you are the only scout, that way all the XP to be had is yours. And all the non-scouts will stare at you in awe as you pull a tent, cot, chair, and fire out of no where, then they will bow down to you, the scout GOD!!!
Sorry, got a little carried away. Yeah, just go it alone, or don't group with other scouts.
Another point: if you are working on scout and marksman (a popular combo) or brawler, don't use traps that will reduce your combat XP, use traps that weaken the target's defense, that way you get trap XP and combat XP.
If you make camp and are by yourself, as many scouts turn out to be loners, *sigh*,and want to make the most of your camp, sit and craft traps or more camps, orif youhave done that, peel yourself away from the monitor and go eat something, watch a little television, at about a half hour (I think) you will have hit as much XP as you are going to get.
That's it for now.
