Thread: Advise on how to destroy a creature nest soloing
So far i tried to smack as many mobs as i can around, then hit the nest abit
to get the others out, kill them as well. In between somtimes i need to rest
from the wounds. Even after 20 kills there still seem to be some creatures in the nest.
Then i make my run for the nest but still some come out and then they divide one goes
after me the other heal them camp faster then i can smack it down.
Any trick? We talk about flewts and the froogies.
I tried to use the traps but they dont work. (Wish i had a grenade))))))))
would like to hear a few strategies here .
Thanks

heres how i handle creature nests.
first, kill the creatures guarding the nest when you first arive. if its a new nest, it should have 2. but i've seen upwords of 10+ (krettles anyone?) next, if you use marksman skills(a lot of people do...) use overchargeshot1 and then press peace on the right hand screen where it lists your chequed techniques.
the easiest way for me to kill anything, is to first make sure im atleast 15-20m away(found 35-40 best for carbine - user descression.) then i go into Prone stance, and fire 3 shots of what ever I've got. with intermediate and advanced combat skills, use the skill technique that does damage to a specific part of the HAM bar.
anyway, prone stance allows you usually to be able to get off 3 shots at the creature before it notices where you are, and comes running. add 1-2 shots if you have an active maskscent.
back to the nest. first hit on the nest, and going peace mode right away, then let the nest spawn some creatures. you should get 3-6 creatures popping up over the next 2-3 minutes. pick them off in the same manor as the others.
when you have killed all the creatures currently spawned - count to 30, and shoot the nest 1 more time, go peace mode again. if nothing spawns in 10 seconds, hit it again. make sure to go peace after you shoot the nest, to prevent 100creatures trying to eat you up. if you still don't see any creatures spawning, shoot away at the nest, but be warned that creatures can still be spawned at any time as long as the nest has some of the purple left on the bar.
I solo destroy missions all the time, but i solo them for the hides not for the credits, as credits are just a bonus to getting the hides.
I do it this way:
1. Never take on something that's hard to kill. On Corellia, many of the bird species just don't go down easy, so I avoid taking those missions. Vrelts, Durnis, Bagerasets, they're much easier.
2. Obviously, kill all the creatures around the nest/hive/whatever.
3. Hit the hive a couple times. I can usually do 25% of it's HP's with just 2 or 3 shots.
4. When things respawn, they tend to head right for me. I'll use Warning Shot (Carbine Skill tree) to get rid of all but 1 for now. Kill them off at my leasure, resting when I have to.
5. Once the field is clear, attack the hive again. Quite often, I will have no more spawns to contend with, but if I do, I simply repeat steps 2 thru 4.
I don't bother going into peace mode, cuz I'm so **edit** good. Actually, the real trick to doing destroy missions solo, is this:
NEVER get in over your head. If they're blue, thier just fine for solo work. Whites are getting dangerous. But still doable if you're smart and patient.
At Level 1 Traps and Level 1 Rifle you get a deadly one two combination against the Mind pool of certain animals (Durni's and Paralopes on Corellia, sorry I can't say about Naboo). Use a Headshots with your rifle until the creature is about half strength in the blue bar then throw a Sharp Bone Spur. A trap will never kill a creature outright but this will take vulnerable animals like the one's I mentioned down to 1 point left in their mind pool. One more head shot and the creature is dead.
Otherwise just be patient when you're hunting a nest. Sure it will take longer to get the cash reward if there are a lot of creatures coming out of the nest but I know plenty of players, myselfincluded, who love this feature for building up their weapopn skills.
