Can I make a Camp just by virtue of having bone and hides I have harvested in my inventory? Do I have to have something else, I don't understand the role of the schematic is that a perma-thing, or is that like in EQ an item that is part of the camp "recipe"

I am only novice scout, so bear with me.

Thanks.

As a novice scout you can make a basic camp kit. In order to do this you do need some hide and bone (not much for the small camps). And you will need the Generic Crafting tool. In there you will see what objects you can make. You should be able to make some small traps as well.

Follow the onscreen direction while in the crafting kit and you should be fine...it will place the camp in your inventory and you can use it from there. Just make sure you are far enough away from buildings or citys...they need to be used in the wild..not near civilization.

Good Luck...it is a fun profession if you like to be in the wild more then in the cities.

SO, speaking generically, as you move up the skill tree, you get these schematics, which sorta "plug" into crafting kits you need to purchase? IF I am right the schematics are sorta abstract, or in your head, you dont need a physical schematic.

I have seen crafting "stations" in the cities, what is the relationship between these and a kit?

Thanks for any info.

No, it's not like some games where you need an actual scrollor blue print as part ofeach combination.

The crafting stations in town are used to access special features in the construction process. You just have to be near a station and have a specific crafting tool for the items you want to make (the generic tool you start the game with as a Scout won't work). As you go through the process you'll be given the opportunity to experiment to improve it's durability, quality, the damage or delay that a weapon can do... that sort of thing. Thats why you can see see some CDEF weapons doing 25 - 50 damage or even more. Someone has taken the time to experiment with them to improve their quality.

You are correct. The scematics just show what you have learned how to make. They like programs you set into your generic crafting tool. If you started the game as a scout you will have started with a generic crafting tool(gct). If you started as another profesion and added scout, you will need to get a gct from someone. You can ask around, or go to the Bazzar and look for one under the Tools section.

When you advance in skills, you automatically get the new schematics put into your datapad. That is just a list to show what you can make. That's all. When you advance, and then open up your gct, it will automatically have all the items you can build for your skills, listed. By selecting one you can see what resources, and how many, it requires to build that. Then it's just a matter of following the steps/screens in the gct to build your camp, trap etc. As far as crafting stations, I have not used one, but I don't think any of them will work for scouting stuff, such as camps and traps. They are similar to the gct but I have only seen them for clothing, tools, weapons, and food.

Hope this helps.

Note that schematics are Data and take up room in your datapad. You can only hold so many schematics. They are NOT "things you know".

So what happens if you run out of space? If you are forced to delete things, how does one get it back?

That's a drag, but I can tell this is a problem as the datapad has a small indicator saying how much memory/space is left for additional data. Wonder why... you think one of the other skill trees would have the ability to craft datapad mods and add ons for datapads. Well, I'm early in my career and a long way off from overloading my datapad. I'll deal with that problem when I get there.
