Thread: Understanding the /assist Command
Hi All,
Being anti-social
andsteadfast soloist, I've had little use for the /assist command. But lately, I've tried some group hunt efforts (and enjoyed it). Not wanting to make a complete arse of myself, I read up on some "grouping strategies" before I went out. One common suggestion is to use the /assist command. Apparently, by targeting the group leader/target caller, and then using/assist,everyone can attack the designated target without fear of lighting up any of the surrounding mobs (assumimg they don't normally pack assist). I thinkthat /assist works like a substitute for /attack (ie.you use itAFTER the targeted leader starts his/her attack). If you do an /assist before the leader initiates attack, you'll do nothing (or end up trying to help them tie their shoes or something :smileyhappy
.
I just seems that the few times I've tried /assist, I don't appear to attack more than once or twice, and then seem to be standing around doing nothing.I've only used it a couple of times - this may be lag.
Also, throwing traps doesn't seem work with /assist, since you have the group leader targeted, and thegame thinks you're trying to trap him (d'oh).
Am I doing this right? Any explanation on the /assist command would be appreciated. I've done a lot of solo hunting, but my soloing has left me kinda behind in my group skills.
Thanks,
Atco
BUT YOUR PRIMARY TARGET IS STILL YOUR TEAMMATE.
You need to press ESC after you hit /assist, to clear your teammate from your primary target. Whatever your teammate was attacking should now pop up in his place, and you can start hitting your specials and what not.
Ygu,
I'm glad you could answer this question, because to be honest - I didn't even know this command existed!
Wow, I still learn something new everyday. ![]()
