Ok people... I don't know if I should be posting this on the Scout threads or not.... but since I am a scout I will!!

Does anybody else find it rediculously hard to gain apprentice XP? I mean looking at it logically, there are only so many people to train. Shoot, just the other day I saw some poor hapless fellow begging people to let him train them. He was even offering to pay them??!!! Do you really think this is how Luke learned from Yoda? Did Yoda pay Luke to train him so he could gain more apprentice points towards Master Jedi??

The only solution I see to this (besides the devs making some patch with an alternate way to gain App XP) is when they finally get the EU release... with all that fresh meat to teach. But this will still be a problem fro them. Once everybody learns the skills they need, HOW DO YOU GET APPRENTICE XP!!??

Normally for me getting AP points, I work on the skills I can, and you'll run into people in need in training, I normally find it I have way to much AP exp. Alot of people do drop easier skills and then later on they'll need training in it.

Arak,

There are always players entering the game, starting new characters or changing their skills. You never know when you may run into someone who needs training.

Check the other AXP threads on here. I think I may need to add a section on this to my Scout guide.

AD,

I feel you pain, and I've posted on this a number of times. AXP is a rough road for people who advance slowly, especially if you are in a popular profession (scout) and if you do a lot of solo play (also often a path for scouts).

There seems to be no magic advice to solve this problem, other than stop scouting and start hanging around in cantinas and med centers. Alternatively, try to find some other guys at about your level to go group-adventuring with, so maybe you can train them as they advance.

Of course, as I say this I'm still out solo hunting most of the time. But I imagine I'll be back in town soon on my AXP quest. Good luck. If you happen to be on the Scylla server, look me up (Jai-Bri). I'll need some scout training soon.

Getting APX isnt so hard really, if u go and shout near staport of a crowded city like Corellia you wont have to spend so much time, I mean, mastering a prof isnt supposed to be easy is it

As for another way to get APX it prolly wouldnt be so cool doing quest/missions to get 5 or 10 APX, cause as you need 620 to master a prof you couldnt expect to get 50 xp from them if they'd exist imo, unless it'd be a long and/or hard quest and then you might prefer shouting in town to teach ppl than doing this quest a dozen times hehe

BTW why would Yoda pay Luke to teach him, Yoda *is* Master Jedi so he doesnt care for APX

AD and Jai, I have posted on this before on Jai's posts. (oh and Delta maybe a section in your guide suggesting to start training people early on would be good)

The reasons of casual player that solo's a lot is not the problem. That is me exactly. I solo about 95% of the time. If Im with someone its usually my RL friend. I advanced very slowly being a casual player. But this was to my advantage in regards getting AXP.

The Key is not waiting until you have all your skills topped off to start training. Start looking for peoplewho need training, and training them early on. The other thing to remember is that AXP is not profession based. So if you teach someone something in ANY profession, it goes into your AXP pool, that can be used for master of ANY profession.

With those 2 things, I have had more then enough AXP by the time I'm ready for master. Just hang out in town, and cantina. Watch the chat window for people asking for training. Be ready really fast to send them a tell that you can train them.

Thats my best advise.

I appreciate the help and suggestions guys.... but I am still having a horrible time. I sit in a Cantina or by a Starport and I see (maybe) 1 or 2 people needing training that I can do (and I have topped out almost all scout and marksman skills) about every few days... and they need low level skills!! Oh and by the way, I am looking in supposed "hot spots" for AXP like Anchorhead on Tat.

At this rate it will take me over a month to get Master Scout.... and then over another month or so for Master Marksman. Ugh... I actually wouldn't mind having AXP missions in the game, even if they did only give a few points at a time. It would still be quicker than shouting around and looking for people to train. Like I said on my first post... this one guy was begging people. Offering credits.

A few suggestions for Apprentice XP:

1. Make sure you have a title up like "Hunter". This will make you searchable in the community screen.

2. Make sure you are searchable in the community screen. See #1.

3. Try putting up the "Helper" Tag. I have had this up since about 2 weeks after launch, and I cannot count how many times I have been nice and answered a newb question the got a "oh btw can you teach me X skill". Note: I would not recommend this is you don't have an interest in helping newbs, as you WILL get many umm.. shall we say.. "simple" questions..

4. While in groups running out to the hunt, it does not hurt to let your group members know that you are looking for App. points and can teach X skills.

i dont know why people have a hard time with this. i am master scout and master marksman. i have stopped training people cause i hit the xp cap and do not want to take it away from newer players. my advice is just be in town and listen to what people are asking for. also as it has been said before do not wait till you need it to get it cause it will make you miserable.

Never ever had a problem with this. I have had my AXP maxed since I was 3-3-3-3 in scout and more or less stayed that way through Master Ranger.

Find out who needs training, as in newpeople and make sure they know your name.

Be available, even willing to go to meet them, or at least go halfway. "Hi, can you train me, please?" "Sure, meet me at xxx in a few, I am out hunting but can get there as soon as this mission is done" You are saving them money, 90% of the time they will meet you or wait.

Never expect money or ask for it. You are getting AXP, they are getting trained free. A deal for ya both. If you get a tip, say thank you.

Train anyone. Ok, I won't train a certain guild, or people with offensive names, but that's me and I am maxed maxed maxed. Suck it up and train the other faction til you get maxed. Then be selective.

Branch out. You got extra skill points. I am a Master Ranger/Master Scout/Medic/Pistoleer... when someone asked for training in Scout, and I see I can train them in pistol too, I asked and most of the time I get the second skill for AXP too.

To make you feel better, I do not actively seek AXP anymore. In fact, if I see you are a Scout and BillyBob wants Trap1, I may ask if you can train him for the AXP. But if someone asks me for training, I will gladly do it (except for certain groups).

I have had 4 masters so far, and never had a problem with AXP. Volunteer your services. I had artisan xp out the kazoo, and let an artisan train me in survey1 four times, surrendering it each time, so she could get AXP. Same deal with rifle and carbine... yeah I lost the pts, big deal, I can get them again, so what?

Be available, be free, be polite.
