Seriously, Change the profession to include more squadleader type skills. Like.....
1. Setting waypoints for large groups.
2. terrian neg. bonuses to vehicles and mounts.
3. camps should actually be a staging area.
You guys probably already though of this but if they include some type of combat support skills maybe it would draw more people.
Also, I was thinking for the large pvp battles a camp could have a clonign center. Maybe use it like a small mobile faction base. Could be a ranger issue.

Crax,
Some of this stuff we've been talking about recently. The TN stuff is SL territory, so I won't ask to go there. The staging area aspect of camps is something that we want to pursue more.
These are good ideas.

Oh goodie, and with a jetpack I can be an airborne Ranger.
Gag ... 19Ds -Army Scouts - have their place in the game, it is called squad leader. Useless as they are, borked as it is, Squad Leaders are for the army types ( go talk to a SL trainer and you will see what I mean).
I would rather Scout stay as it is, as in nature.
Wanna play army - and I know whereof I speak, having taken Sam's money for a day or three - go SL. Wanna have fun, be a Scout/Ranger.
And camps can and are used as forward bases, just without cloning (which if you think about it, is not real Scout/Ranger).

and I thought the Bhs would finally be gone, silly me

Yeah thats the only thing keeping me from following this mind set, the fact we already have a class this is suposed to be the ultimate group leaders and combat leaders. I think if scout changed to pvp orientated ranger would have to change also, and that would step on sl toes

SL plus Commando. Try that for your Army Scout template. The Squad Leader is about to get a revamp in a few months, so it might be getting lots of cool stuff.
