Thread: Teranus's guide to Milking
Well Im on Bria. Me and another went out to Naboo and hunted down down some milk. We found female kaadu, and Ikopi have it, so we tracked some down and milked for an hour. We got 1k of it. Not great stats, and I contacted my chef bud I buy from and told him how I got it how long, etc, and what he would pay for it. He offered 30cpu, which is what I was thinking. He said for that much of the good PE and OQ he would pay more.
So far my chef contacts tell me some recipies dont care about the stats of the milk, and just want a bunch of it, like 1-5k of it. For some recipies the milk stats effect the final product, and in priority they care about PE and OQ.
The larger creatures give more, like Fammba and rogue Fammba on Naboo will give you 100 or so. I hear the pickets on Dantooine will give about.
For anyone who has not tried it yet here is how milking works. You have to be a scout, not sure of what level, I think just up to Wayfaring 2 where you get Mask Scent. Not all animals that give herbivore meat can be milked as I first thought. Its just some animals the devs decided it would be. And some, like Kaadu, only the females. The reason you need Mask Scent is because you have to have it on to milk, other wise you get message "the creature has been spooked and can not be milked" So mask up, walk over to it and use the radial menu to choose Collect Milk. So far, the radial menu is teh only way to use. I have not found a command anywhere for it.
You need to stay close to the creature, so if it moves move with it. Stay on the ready to follow it, because if you get to far away, say 5m or more, it tells you "the creature has moved and you can not milk it". But it can be done by staying close to it while it moves. Just tricky. You will get 2 messages that say, " you continue to milk the creature". Then about the time the third comes up, is a message "you have successfully milked this creature" You are now done. And so is that creature. A single creature can not be milked more then once, by the same person or anyone else. So basically once it's milked, it can't be milked again by anyone.
My best tactic is to milk it, kill it move on. That way you know that anything standing still needs to be milked.
Happy Milking.

The short version: Milk everything, run until they're off your radar for a bit, then return to milk again.
If you milk all the creatures in a lair, then wander 150-ish meters away and wait for 30 seconds or so, the lair despawns. The lair and creatures are in a state of limbo. When you get close they respawn. Being "new" creatures, they are milkable again.
Good info on the walking away, I'll have to try it. Just wish it wasn't like that though. Messes up our RoB hunting/harvesting tactics to get stuff in mass quantity.
The one thing it does track is how many creatures have been killed. Each lair, including hidden ones, will dissappear when that limit is reached.
Changing it to delete a lair if it hasn't been visited in a set amount of time or keeping them active for longer or further away would prevent a lot of abuse.
