Thread: Need to increase milking range

The current 3m requirement is a pain in the rear. I'd be nice if we could get the same 15m as is used in taming, sampling DNA, harvesting resources, looting corpses. Yes it makes sense you'd be close while playing with a creature's udder, but in practice 3m can be difficult to maintain (especially with large creatures).

15m? I've always thought that was a little far to harvest anyway. It's more of a laziness number and takes away from the realism. 3m is good I think. I haven't had any issues at all with the creatures. They usually lay down for me and stay still. But I also walk up to them instead of the default run. I mean really, if you can't hit something 8m away with a long vibroaxe, why should you be able to milk something twice that distance. That's like having long arms of doom.

While I hear you (having had my head stuck in the body of numerous bagarsets, humbabas, pikets, sharnaffs, and falumpasets over the past few days) it's actually somewhat more realistic to be required to be that close to the critter to milk them.

I'd prefer that the devs fix the creature and droid pets not respecting their master's space issue, myself.

Force milking??

Personally I think it's OK. Yes a pain, but realistic, and not to terribly difficult to keep up with them if they move. The trick with the large once is stay just behind their back legs, or under the back legs.

What exactly does it mean by "bull"?

I think they should make it so animals hold still once you start milking them. They are calmed afterall. That would make the post milking clubbing of them that much easier as well.

the problem isn't with the 'apparent' range... it's with the range the game is actually working with.

I've been at ZERO meters on small-skeleton (fambaa frames are notorious for problems, so I'll ignore them here), PRONE animals... and I'm too far away.

I was also 'too far away' to listen to a musician today... which seemed odd, since I was all over 7 meters away...

it would seem that the problems we're facing are more extensive than just milk-ranges.

I haven't had any problems. If the animal moves then I just tap the arrow keys in the direction tis moving and stay with it. Half the time they don't even move anyways.

MY suggestion for milking is much more humorous. When you begin tgo milk, your character pulls out a small stool and a bucket and puts on a straw hat, then they actually look like they milk the animal, all the while banjo music plays. Yeah.

Lamm,

I think a lot of this is a mix of server lag, and computer lag. But I think the range stuff needs to be looked at. The melee distance was great.
