CAMPING – HOW TO, WHERE, AND HOW TO MAKE THEM
Camps are an integral part of Scouting. They can be a lifesaver in the field, and are a skill tree that must be completed to get to Master Scout. To make a camp, open up your Generic Crafting Tool. Under camps, you’ll see “Basic Camp”. Select it. The basic camp costs a small amount of Hide and Bone, so you’ll need to have some in your inventory to make one. Drag the hide onto the hide slot, and the bone onto the bone slot. Click the create button. If you’re successful, you’ll go to the screen that tells you how successful you were. If you aren’t, you’ll get the “critical failure” screen and have to start over. Once you get to the success screen, click create again, and the camp is made and placed into your inventory.
For right now, you need to be a certain distance (between 750 and 1500 meters depending on the city) away from a city to set up a camp. Once you are that far away, go into your inventory, and click on “use” over the camp. The camp will be setup.
Camps are one-time-use items. Every camp you use is gone forever, and you’ll need to make a new one. A good suggestion is to have at least four camps on hand at all times, in case you need one.
While you are in the camp you can heal just by waiting and there is a slight modifier to your heal times. Doctors and Medics can heal you and tend your wounds, and entertainers can heal your mind wounds. Entertainers cannot, however, heal your Battle Fatigue – you can only do that in a cantina or hotel.
Survival (Camping) XP is given based on how long you stay in the camp, how many people visit, and how much healing takes place. The don’t increase the amount of XP you can get from any single camp, they decrease the time it takes to get that XP. XP is capped at a maximum for each type of camp. For Basic Camps, you can’t get more than 320 XP no matter how long they remain up and you sit there healing.
When you are finished with your camp, you need to break it down. Do this by using the little computer terminal on the ground near the tent. Click and hold on it while it’s yellow and you’ll get the option to “Disband Camp”. You’ll also get the option “Camp Status” which lets you see how long the camp’s been up, how many visitors, and who created it. Select “Disband Camp” and the camp will disappear and you’ll get your XP. Don’t simply abandon your camp, as there can be problems with getting the XP from it when that happens. Also – you can’t get involved in combat while your camp is active, or the camp will be automatically abandoned – although it won’t be taken down. You simply won’t get any XP for waiting around there after you’ve been in combat. Best to wait until you are healed to go fight again.
Camp crafting now also grants you Survival XP, so the more camps you make, the more XP you will get. And the best place to craft camps is while you are camping! It helps pass the time, so make sure that if you are by yourself and camping to gain XP you churn out those camps!
The further you progress in Scouting, the better and bigger your camps, the more XP they give when you are crafting and the faster you'll heal.

SURVIVAL XP
This was the hardest skill for me to master, because it takes the most time. Thankfully, the Devs have heard our requests and have provided us with other means for getting Wilderness Survival XP. You can get survival XP from camping (as before), fishing (based on the size of the fish you catch) and making camps and traps (the amount varies based on the type of camp or trap). Each camp you make has the ability to get you XP - with the levels varying based on the number of people who visit it, the amount of healing that takes place while its up, and how long its up for. Basic camps are limited to approximately 360 points of XP, and Multiperson camps can get you about 640. Improved camps generally max out in the 800-850 XP range.
To make this stand out a bit more for those just looking for this info - Camp XP totals:
Basic Camp: 320-360 XP
Multiperson Camp: 620-640 XP
Improved Camp: 800-840
The quickest way to boost your wilderness XP is to group. This isn’t always possible though, because every group I’ve been in has had more than one scout, and they’ve ALL wanted the camp XP. The most common cause of contention between members of groups seems to be over who gets to setup the next camp.
There’s an easy way around this: bring an artisan friend camping. To get my last 5000 wilderness XP, I joined my friend, a weaponsmith, on a crafting trip. Every time he stopped to sample, I healed him - sampling takes away action XP and can be healed by a medic - and then danced to heal the mind wounds my /tendwound skill gave. In no time, he was getting great samples, and I was getting great camping XP, without needing to wait 15 minutes to get the max XP.
In addition, if you are out in the field and have a camp setup, keep a look out for folks passing by. If they enter your camp - even for a few seconds - you’ll get a little bump up in your XP. I usually give a shout with my coordinates to let anyone who may be around know they can come stop by to visit my camp and heal - and give me that needed wilderness XP.
Camp XP speeds are generally not affected by the type of camp. A basic camp will generate the same XP as an Improved camp does. The difference is the caps. If you are camping in a group, be sure to remember the caps. If time has gone by and you've gotten some good healing in, but you aren't completely healed yet, take down that camp and put up another. This way no XP is lost.
Another great way to speed through camping XP, if you can do this, is to have your Player Association friends hold their meetings in your camps. That way you can conduct business, but also get some XP for it.
CAMP CRAFTING MACRO
This little macro will help out when you're grinding through those camps. Set this macro up on your quick bar. Open up your crafting tool and select your camp schematic.
Pop in your resources, then press the quickbar key for this macro:
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/createPrototype Practice noitem;
/createPrototype Practice noitem;
That'll skip you through the next two steps and you'll get the XP. If you actually want the camp, drop the "practice noitem" line.
This will speed up your camp crafting tremendously. It's also a good idea to have more than one crafting tool going at the same time.
There are more detailed crafting macros that are based on this system available - take a look at the artisan and other crafting professions for more details. They require a bit more in depth knowledge of crafting than your average Scout needs, so I haven't outlined one here. This one should work fast enough, and enable you to close down and restart your camps without needing to /dump (which ends a macro) the macro.
The information is here - just look for it, bro.

What about fishing? How much survival xp do you get from that?
I think I'm just gonna craft them and sit in a camp while I do it.
