Thread: Some comments/questions about scouting droids

So I bought my first one yesterday. 3 harvesting mods, 2 trapping mods, and 1 combat mod. Sound prett good and versitle right.


Well it harvests one less then I do. The harvest mod is at 47, what ever that is supposed to mean. Thanks again SOE for putting a number into the game we know nothing about. But with half of its possible mods, I would think it would be harvesting at least as good as me. 1 unit may not sound like a lot, until you add it up to several mission lair over a couple hours. Say 10 kills per lair, at 10 lairs, that's 100 units.


So that's my first comment and observation. I'm thinking the harvesting amounts need to be bumped up on these droid mods to make them really viable. Some might say that I just need to use all six slots for havesting mods. OK, but then I cant use the same droid for trap throwing. And since those are both scouting abilities, and I can't have more then one droid out, I should be able to use both at a decent level. Using all 6 slots for harvesting should yeild me "more" units then I could harest, quite a bit more.


OK so second comment/quesiton is about the trapping. I finally figured out how to load the traps. I set the command, I think, to throw them. Choose the radial menu, "Trap Options - Program - Fire Trap" It gets the little ? over its head like when you program other commands. So I say "throw". And it gets the little !. So I figure it's now programmed to throw a trap when I say "throw". Is this correct in how this works?


Secondly, I couldnt really tell if it was throwing traps or not. There was nothing flying out of it, and particle effects on the creature like traps usually do. I know it did eventually throw them all, because I could, after time, put a different type of trap in it. I used Adhesive mesh the second time. You would think that it would show the big blue net around the beast. Nope, nothing. I had no idea if it threw the traps or not.


Delta, can we get them to make the traps thrown from droids show the normal particle effects on the target? It would be very good feedback, and that way you also know when it's out of traps, because nothing happened when you gave the command. It's needing some feed back on it big time.

I am not gonna say I told ya so - But I did, the community at large if not you specifically.


Droids are great - as tanks, storage containers for stuff and as portable crafters for those too unlucky not to be able to pop a HTFB.


A few macros for harvesting, a tasty veghash, and my tactical knowledge - I am still harvesting my buns off and I didn't spend any credits on a droid to do something I can. My tanks are a different story, they take hits I don't need or want, plus they make me laff when they fly apart in a gazillion pieces.


Droids have a place, and it's not as harvestors or trap throwers.

My droid with 6 harvesting modules gives me quite a significant harvesting bonus.

LOL yea well its not my fault as I have said, that they are not beneficial to the profession the skills come from.


I actually figured out how to make a macro work for it. Cant use spatial from a macro to command for traps or harvesting. Have to use /tellpet macro. Totally lame I must say.


But the harvesting amount is still a dissapointment, and as JBMat said, totally lame. The trap throwing on the other hand is great. I like that there is no delay, and I have my que stacked and it will still throw one.

You need a better droid.


I've got a 97 mod droid (which I've named NRaas ) and he outharvests me each time.


I would get a combat/trap droid AND a harvest droid. Use one or the other. But that doesn't help, I suppose, if you're using the droid for traps.


I've got a combat droid as well, and my pre-nerf probot. So I've got 3 droids now - I guess I should get a trapping one and try it out.

i must say the trapping droid is superb. One of the funnest things to have as part of my "hunting equipement". I used to just ignore using traps becasue it would cause me to pause in combat, but now that i have the droid, im loading the sucker up with everything i can.

I have a trapping/Healing droid. I love it it kinda sucks you gotta find a medic with Pharm IV to load the stims but its a fun droid and the trapping is fun too!
