Thread: What is Group Solo hunting?

This is a newbie hunting question. Often, when I run into the mission terminal on Dantooine, there are people asking if anyone wants todo group solo hunting. Or something like that, I might have the exact wording wrong. But it definitely includes group and solo. Isn't "group solo" an oxymoron? I'm new, and I don't want to embarass myself, so I always turn them down. Can anyone fill me in on what this is?

I haven't heard the phrase before, but I think I may know what it's about. It may be that they want to group for the group bonus to get better missions. Then you go your separate ways to avoid splitting the fee and loot.

Brj and Action,

That's exactly what it is. You group up with other people so that you can get the higher end missions. With buffs and food, you are still able to solo those missions.

We always have a group like that going in our city on Bloodfin.

Yep, Its the only way to get high pay kill missions.

Im currently a master doc/master rifleman and i always try to group with 5+ players so i can hunt the janta to get the rare janat blood and heavy leather to make my uber buff packs, the 26k credits a mission is nice as well when it only takes about 3 mins to do the mission . Makes for a very nice bank balance

A lot of people do it on dathomir, TKAs mostly. They join a group of about 10 people gettwo 32k rancor missions then leave group and go their way (they all buffed to the eyeballs and using moun and food and all sorts of spices and have 90% armor resists to everything).

Its not right it shouldn't happen, you think you got a nice hunting group going but most are just there for them selfs. I say once players start leaving the group the missions should go down in money.

BRING ON COMBAT REVAMP or im leaving the game.....

I'm pretty sure you can stay grouped and not split the payout unless your groupmates are near when you finish the lair

Most solo groups advertise themselves as such, I believe.

You can always start your own group, and be specific that soloers will be kicked.

Every time I log in I'm terrified they changed the game to Dance Dance Revolution without telling anyone after holding a "focus group"

Solo Groups have been going on on Chimaera for a while, mostly on Dantooine but they're spreading out far enough that I heard someone starting a solo Sharnaff group last time I walked through Coronet! They're always advertised as a solo group rather than a normal hunting group (normally someone shouting "Starting solo group /tell XXX for invite").

What you do is join up to form the group, all pick your high-payout missions then go out and do them on your own (but still grouped) only group members in a certain radius (100m?) get the payouts, so you're not sacrificing your payout to others.

You'd normally stay grouped together even once you've all got your missions, so that you can keep coming back to the mission terminal and picking up new missions over and over until your buff runs out without having to worry about starting up a new group. Also it means that you get to chat with the others on groupchat while you're out there (always good for a bit of competitive hunting and seeing who can take down their lairs fastest).
