So, this may be a known issue, but I really hadn't spent any time in dungeons until tonight, and I was perplexed...I went throught two dungeons on Rori (the killer bat one and the tortur one), and no matter what I harvested, no matter how tough the beastie was, I would only get one unit per harvest. Is this something that others have encountered? Is this an old-school bug that is just new to me?

Hi, that is working as intended.. They only ever drop 1 unit of resource as far as I know in all dungeons.

Indeed.
The reason for it is that if a good spawn of meat, bone or hide happened on that planet the poi's would be camped for it as they are static spawns (as many of the higher level critters that can't be got from mission terminals have thier own poi).
You can however drag the critters out of the poi and get the normal harvesting drop rate.

I think the saying goes " You learn something new every day"..

It is not because of spawn camping. The devs have shown quite well they don't care a whit about camping (as long as you aren't exploiting a ledge or instant spawn or such).
It is because animal resources spawns work like every other resources spawn in the game. They have concentrations on the map, only we cannot see them because there is no meat survey tool. (You can test this by finding a type of meat/bone/hide on a planet and harvesting it. One place will have skinny, another medium and another fat.)
Caves are indoors, so there are no resources on the map. Zero concentration means one unit harvested.

Seir,
Yes and no. While I am aware of the Rangers discovery, in areas where resources aren't available, you can't sample at all. So those creatures would be unharvestable under that hypothesis.
I think the Ranger determination is correct, but I think that the reason why it's not the base amount is to discourage camping. At least, that's what we've been told since last July.
I'll try and get some clarification on this, if possible. It may make a good Ranger question of the week. Talk to Calc. ![]()

Remember the period when we harvested 1 resource from creatures at times? An easy fix is to never let a spot spawn less than a given percent...
...except in caves which are on a different map and therefore don't have a spot to spawn.
Now they may not have implemented the fix for caves because they want to discourage camping, but I'll wager a cookie that this is the mechanics behind it.
